Pyrene Summer Camp runs this residential camp in Lles de Cerdanya, Spain. The camp welcomes children aged 10–12, with languages on the programme. 6 sessions scheduled Jun 20 – Jul 31, 2027, each lasting 6 nights. Activities run in English and Spanish.
Junior Adventure is the Pyrene Summer Camp week built for 10 to 12 year olds, spent under canvas in the woods of the Cerdanya valley in the heart of the Pyrenees. Over seven days a small group of around twenty-five children find their way with map and compass, walk mountain paths, ride mountain bikes through forests and spend time in the saddle on horseback, guided by monitors who live and work in these same valleys. English runs quietly through the whole week: alongside the local team there are native English-speaking monitors from the United States, Canada and Great Britain, and roughly a third of the participants come from abroad, so Catalan, Spanish and English are all heard around camp. Phones are left behind and the rhythm of the day belongs to the mountain — rain on your face, wind on a summit, a sky full of stars over the tents. The camp is run with a light footprint, with mobile and foldable facilities, solar-heated water, local suppliers and all waste recycled.
Junior Adventure is a one-week, multi-activity mountain programme for 10 to 12 year olds, built around four pillars: orienteering, trekking, mountain biking and horse riding. Children stay together in one small group of around twenty-five for the whole week, moving from one discipline to the next rather than choosing electives, so everyone tries everything and progresses together. The programme grows out of a blend of volunteer camps, non-formal education and classic summer-camp traditions, which means the days are as much about cooperation, autonomy and respect for the mountains as about the activities themselves. Because the camp lives outdoors in the forest, the weather and the terrain shape the rhythm of the day, and English runs through it all thanks to the native-speaking monitors on the team.
Children are accompanied by a team of monitors based in these Pyrenean valleys — professionals in education and in sport — joined each summer by native English-speaking monitors from the United States, Canada and Great Britain. Groups are deliberately kept small, with each Junior Adventure week limited to around twenty-five participants, so staff know every child well on the trail, on the bike and around the campsite.
Pyrene asks children to leave the screen behind for the week: the invitation at the heart of the camp is to forget about your phone and reconnect with nature, with new friends and with yourself, so the days are filled with trails, campfires and conversation rather than notifications.

Nights are spent camping in the middle of the forest, in facilities that are mobile and foldable so that the woodland is left exactly as it was found at the end of the summer. Hot water for showers comes from solar panels, part of the camp's commitment to running with no CO2 emissions.
Forest campsite in the Cerdanya valley, in the Pyrenees mountains
The camp sits in woodland in the Cerdanya valley, with the mountains and rivers of the Pyrenees as its real playground. Everything is designed to be temporary and reversible: foldable structures that leave the forest untouched, solar panels heating the water, supplies bought from local and responsible producers and all waste recycled. Rather than building new infrastructure, Pyrene makes use of existing public facilities in the valley.
