Residential camp in Lles de Cerdanya, Spain
Big Trekking 7x7 is a seven-day walking traverse for 16 to 18 year olds who want their summer measured in summits rather than screens. The challenge is simple and demanding: seven peaks in seven days, linking emblematic tops of the Cerdanya valley and its neighbouring comarques such as Puigpedrós, Bony Manyer, Carlit, Peric, Coma d'Or, Puigmal, Tossa Plana de Lles, Perafita and Pedraforca. Between the long days on the ridges, campers come back to a camp set among the woods of the Pyrenees, where facilities are mobile and foldable, hot water comes from solar panels and life is deliberately simple. Phones, tablets and consoles stay in the office, so the week is spent with the group, the map and the mountains, and English is picked up naturally thanks to native English-speaking monitors and the mix of Catalan, Spanish and international participants. It suits teenagers who already enjoy walking and are ready for sustained effort, altitude and the satisfaction of standing on a new summit each morning.
