Pyrene Summer Camp runs this residential horse riding camp in Lles de Cerdanya, Spain. The camp welcomes children aged 14–17, with languages on the programme. 3 sessions scheduled Jun 20 – Jul 24, 2027, each lasting 6 nights. Activities run in English and Spanish.
Advanced Horse Riding is a week in the saddle for young riders aged 14 to 17 who already feel at home on a horse, set in the Cerdanya valley on the Catalan side of the Pyrenees. Over seven days each rider is paired with a horse and the group travels the valley together, with the camp's base in the woods as a home between rides. Numbers are deliberately small, with thirteen places on each weekly session, so the group rides and lives closely together. As at every Pyrene camp, local monitors who are professionals in education and sport share the week with native English-speaking monitors from the United States, Canada and Great Britain, and with Catalan, Spanish and English all spoken around the campfire, riders pick up language simply by taking part. It is a simple, outdoor, phone-free kind of summer: long days outside, mountains on every horizon and a group of new friends to share them with.

Special focus
Horse riding · Animals & Nature
This is a single-focus week: one rider, one horse, and seven days of riding around the Cerdanya valley, built for teenagers aged 14 to 17 who already have riding experience and want more than arena work. The group is capped at thirteen places, which keeps the riding tight-knit and lets monitors match the routes and the pace to the riders in front of them. Between rides, life follows the rhythm of the wider Pyrene camp — camping in the woods, meals and evenings shared with the other groups, English and Catalan and Spanish mixing around the fire. What sets the programme apart is how much of it happens out in the valley rather than at a riding centre, in the company of local monitors who know these mountains as their own.

The riding week is run by Pyrene's own team of monitors, who live in these valleys and are professionals in education and in sport, joined by native English-speaking monitors from the United States, Canada and Great Britain. Groups stay small by design — thirteen riders on each weekly session — so monitors know every young person and every horse in their care, and the pace of the week can be adapted to the group out on the trails.
Pyrene asks young people to leave the phone behind for the week and to spend their days with the horses, the group and the mountains instead of a screen. Days are built around riding and camp life in the woods, so there is simply no place for devices in the rhythm of the week.

Where your child sleeps
Life at camp is spent under canvas in the middle of the woods, with mobile and foldable facilities that are taken down at the end of the summer so the forest is left exactly as it was found. Hot water is heated by solar panels, and insulating sleeping mats can be hired from the camp for riders who prefer not to travel with their own.
Amenities
The camp sits among the trees in the Cerdanya valley, a base of mobile, foldable structures rather than permanent buildings, so nothing is left behind at the end of the season. Hot water comes from solar panels, all waste is recycled, supplies are bought from local and responsible producers, and the project makes use of existing public facilities instead of building new ones.

Getting your child there
Barcelona El Prat Airport
Pickup service · International families most often fly into Barcelona El Prat, where the Pyrene team runs a pick-up service every Sunday between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. and a drop-off service every Saturday between 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. for the drive up to the Cerdanya valley. The transfer is booked as an option when you reserve the camp place.
Puigcerdà station
Pickup service · The greenest way to arrive is by rail: the R3 Rodalies line from Barcelona reaches Puigcerdà, where a member of the camp team meets riders at the station and drives them to the campsite. The station transfer is added as an option at booking, each way.
Latour-de-Carol – Enveitg station
Pickup service · Families travelling from elsewhere in Europe can come by SNCF to Latour-de-Carol – Enveitg, on the French side of the border and right at the edge of the Cerdanya valley; the camp collects arrivals from the station so the journey ends without a car.
