Schedule

Our Pyrene Explorer Camp is a unique mountain expedition designed for teenagers who are ready for a real physical and emotional adventure through the heart of the Pyrenees. Over the course of 13 days, participants traverse some of the most iconic peaks and valleys of Catalonia, Andorra, and Aran Valley, forming unforgettable memories, deep friendships, and a renewed sense of confidence and connection with nature.

Day 0 – Arrival and Welcome (Barcelona – Cerdanya Valley)
We meet at Barcelona Airport and travel together to our basecamp in the Cerdanya Valley (1,900m). Participants get to know each other through games and icebreakers, check gear, and enjoy their first traditional Catalan dinner together.

Day 1 – Cap del Rec to Claror Refuge
The journey begins with a hike of 13.63 km and 719 m of elevation gain. We cross wild forests and alpine meadows to reach our first mountain refuge in Andorra.

Day 2 – Claror Refuge to Escaldes / Arinsal to Comapedrosa Refuge
Today includes two parts:

Morning: a gentle descent (5.88 km / +38 m) to Escaldes for a quick van transfer.

Afternoon: we hike uphill from Arinsal to the Comapedrosa Refuge (4.55 km / +669 m), surrounded by high peaks.

Day 3 – Comapedrosa to Pla de Boet (via Comapedrosa Summit, 2,942m)
A true alpine stage with 11.49 km and 672 m elevation gain. We reach the summit of Andorra’s highest peak and descend into the deep valleys of Alt Pirineu Natural Park.

Day 4 – Pla de Boet to Pica d’Estats (3,143m) and back
This is one of the most demanding and rewarding days: 16.14 km round trip with 1,435 m ascent to the highest peak in Catalonia. An unforgettable challenge!

Day 5 – Rest Day
A well-deserved rest day. We take time to recover, reflect, eat well, and enjoy some lighter activities.

Day 6 – Camping Graus to Tuc de Marterat (2,666m) – Cabana de Guerossos
Backpacks on! We gain 1,280 m over 11.15 km and camp at a quiet mountain hut surrounded by peaceful landscapes.

Day 7 – Cabana de Guerossos to Certascan Refuge
We hike 7.44 km with 781 m of elevation through high mountain terrain toward the Certascan area.

Day 8 – Certascan to Presa de Montalto
A long descent day with impressive views. We walk 14.5 km with 487 m elevation gain, heading out of the mountains for a bit of rest.

Day 9 – Rest Day
Another rest day to recharge before the final ascent phase.

Day 10 – Artiga de Lin to Renclusa Refuge (via Besurta Cabin)
We re-enter the high mountains, hiking 11.62 km and gaining 1,066 m elevation toward the foot of Aneto, the highest mountain in the Pyrenees.

Day 11 – Aneto Summit (3,404m) and return
Summit day! 13.1 km and 1,263 m of elevation gain take us to the roof of the Pyrenees. A day of celebration, emotion, and pride.

Day 12 – Return to Barcelona
We say goodbye to the mountains and travel back to Barcelona, full of stories, laughs, and an unforgettable experience to share.

Accommodation & facilities

The Pyrene Explorer Camp begins at our base camp located in the Cerdanya Valley at an altitude of 1,900 meters, where participants arrive and acclimate to the mountain environment. On the first day, participants will sleep in tents equipped with bunk beds and enjoy meals prepared in a communal space. The camp features a professional kitchen for meal preparation, a large covered dining area in case of bad weather, and sanitary facilities with hot showers powered by solar energy.

From the second day onward, the real adventure begins. Participants head into the mountains, bivouacking in stunning outdoor locations. They will sleep in tents, mountain huts, and campsites, fully immersing themselves in the natural surroundings. The hikes include challenging ascents to some of the highest peaks, offering a variety of landscapes that combine wild nature, breathtaking views, and the opportunity to experience life in the wild, all while strengthening group cohesion.

Participants will sleep under the stars or in huts, depending on the conditions of each stage of the camp, making the most of the camping experience in the mountains and bonding with the natural environment.

If you decide to cancel your booking for any reason, you will receive a 100% refund of the amount paid as long as you request the cancellation at least 45 days before the start of your camp. The payment process is as follows: First payment: A €250 deposit is required at the time of booking to secure your place. Second payment: The remaining balance is due up to two weeks before the start of your camp. If the cancellation request is made within the specified timeframe, you will be refunded the full amount you’ve paid so far.

Pyrene Explorer prioritizes health with first-aid kits, trained first-aiders, and regular health checks. Routes and activities are safety-assessed with appropriate gear provided.
The ratio is 1 staff member per 5 participants, with increased staff for more technical activities.

A structured team includes a Camp Director, Activity Leaders, and Instructors who ensure safety and provide support. Each group has a designated leader.

Staff hold relevant certifications (e.g., mountain guiding, first aid) and have experience in adventure activities.

All staff undergo thorough background checks, including criminal record verification.

Staff receive ongoing training in safety, first aid, leadership, and managing young participants.

Phones are not allowed, except for emergencies or travel coordination, to encourage immersion in nature and social interaction.

Location

The nearest airport to Pyrene Explorer Camp is Barcelona-El Prat (BCN). Airport pickup is available upon request. An instructor from the Pyrene team will be at Barcelona Airport on Day 1 to meet and greet the students. The meeting time is at 14:00. Our team member will be holding a sign with the Pyrene Explorer logo for easy identification.If your child is arriving by plane or train from outside of Barcelona, please inform us in advance, and we will provide you with detailed instructions on how to proceed. This way, we can ensure a smooth and easy arrival for your child.Once all participants have arrived, we will travel together to Cerdanya in the Eastern Pyrenees, where the adventure begins!Please make sure your child has their contact information and emergency details on hand, just in case. We will be in contact if any changes arise regarding travel or arrival times.
