Pyrene Explorer

Pyrene Explorer is a 13-day hiking and adventure journey for teenagers aged 15 to 18, designed to experience the Pyrenees as a real expedition rather than a traditional summer camp. The adventure begins in Barcelona, where the group meets before travelling towards the mountains. From there, participants move through some of the wildest landscapes of the Pyrenees, hiking across forests, alpine valleys, mountain lakes and high-altitude terrain, with challenging objectives including iconic Pyrenean summits. Throughout the expedition, participants travel from place to place carrying their personal equipment and gradually becoming more independent. Accommodation varies along the route and includes staffed and unstaffed mountain refuges, campsites, tents and, when weather conditions allow, bivouacking under the stars. The trekking stages are combined with adventure and recovery days, including activities such as rafting and canyoning. Experienced Pyrene staff accompany the group throughout the programme, while specialist activities are led by qualified guides. Pyrene Explorer is about much more than reaching summits. Participants learn to navigate mountain terrain, organise their equipment, adapt to changing conditions, make decisions, support their teammates and live responsibly in nature. The small-group format creates a strong sense of community and gives young people the opportunity to make friends from different countries. With more than 20 years of experience organising youth programmes in the Pyrenees, our aim is to create a safe but genuinely challenging journey. Participants return home having completed a real mountain expedition, developed greater confidence and independence, and shared an unforgettable adventure in one of Europe’s most spectacular mountain environments.
