German Summer Courses in Düsseldorf

Everything at the Düsseldorf centre is built around one intensive German course of 30 lessons a week, taught Monday to Friday in small classes of around eleven students in the bright seminar rooms of the hostel itself, so mornings mean class and afternoons and evenings belong to the programme outside it. After lessons, staff put on a different mix of sport, games and cultural activities each day and actively encourage everyone to join in, and twice a week the whole group goes out on an excursion, half a day on Wednesday and a full day on Saturday. The rhythm is deliberately full rather than optional: attendance at classes, meals, activities and excursions is expected of every student, which keeps the German going long after the last lesson. Roommates are matched by age and language level but with different mother tongues, so German remains the shared language in the bedrooms, at the barbecue by the Rhine and on the bikes the school lends out free of charge. With accommodation, full board, the activity programme, excursions with entrance fees, laundry and round-the-clock supervision all inside one package, students step out of their room and straight into the day.
