Residential German camp in Berlin, Germany

During the course, our international students stay in the centrally located youth hostel near Berlin Central Station. The house is tucked away in a quiet side street – a green oasis away from the hustle and bustle of the city. German classes also take place in the youth hostel from Monday to Friday. Different language levels (A1-C1) and starting dates are offered for beginners and advanced learners.

The Berlin-Teenager summer is an all-inclusive package with a clear rhythm: German lessons Monday to Friday, then an activity programme every day after class, and two staff-led excursions each week — a half day on Wednesday and a full day on Saturday. Afternoons and evenings rotate through sport and games, city walks, museums and flea markets, karaoke, dancing, photo workshops, open-air cinema and concerts, with the guest house common room, pool tables and table football for quieter moments. Nothing is optional extra-cost: activities, excursions and entrance fees are covered by the course fee, and taking part in them is expected of every student, which is precisely how the language keeps working outside the classroom. Staff members encourage and motivate students to join in, and welcome activities are laid on for each new arrival so no one spends their first evening on the sidelines. What shapes the programme most is the city itself — the government district, the Spree, the boroughs and boutiques all lie within easy reach of the house, so Berlin becomes the classroom as much as the building does.

Full board is part of the course package, with three meals served each day at the residence. Portions are described as plentiful, so students are not expected to buy extra food. Special diets, including vegetarian meals or dishes without certain ingredients, can be arranged on request.

Screen time policy

Free wireless internet is available at all Humboldt course centres, so your child can stay in touch with home, and the guest house common room offers a TV room alongside pool tables and table football for downtime after a day in town. Screens are not the centre of the day, however: attendance at all classes, meals and the scheduled activities and excursions is compulsory, and staff actively encourage students to join in and use their German with each other rather than retreat to a device.

Despite its very central location the guest house is a very quiet place and perfect to spend a summer. All rooms are very bright and modern, and have en-suite bathrooms. Rooms are shared by three to four students.We carefully choose the students who will share a room with each other. We take care to match roommates who have a comparable German language level and are of similar age, yet speak different native languages. This way we encourage them to speak and practice German with each other outside of the classroom. Boys and girls are housed separately.

Families who prefer to drive can bring their child directly to the course centre in the Moabit district near Berlin Central Station; the address for arrival by car is Seydlitzstraße 20, 10557 Berlin (c/o martas Gästehäuser). Drop-off is on the Sunday before the course begins and collection on the Saturday following the last week of lessons, and a 50 EUR cash deposit for the room key is taken on arrival and refunded on departure.

Pickup service · The guest house sits in a quiet side street just a few minutes from Berlin Central Station, and students arriving by train are collected there by our staff free of charge and walked or driven the short distance to the house. Pick-ups are arranged for the official arrival day, the Sunday before the course starts, with the return trip to the station on the Saturday after the course ends. Please send travel details in advance so a staff member can be waiting when the train pulls in.
