Residential German camp in Munich, Germany
Our German courses in Munich are held in the Don Bosco youth hostel near the center. The school’s wonderful location very close to downtown, yet in a very quiet neighborhood and surrounded by its fantastic sports and recreational facilities, make it the perfect place for students who wish to study in a big city, yet prefer the tranquility and convenience of a residential campus. The lessons are held in friendly, well-equipped classrooms on the very same premises where our students are housed. The rooms of the dormitories are bright and cheerful and most have two beds, although some of them also have three to four beds. Showers and toilets (shared) are available in sufficient numbers on all floors. Wi-Fi access is available. We carefully choose the students who will share a room with each other. We take care to match roommates who have a comparable German language level and are of similar age, yet speak different native languages. This way we encourage them to speak and practice German with each other outside of the classroom. Boys and girls are housed separately. Our students receive three meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) as well as a snack daily. Laundry service is offered to all students free of charge once a week for their personal laundry. Sheets and linen will be provided and changed regularly. We ask you to bring your own towels for daily use.

The Munich programme is built as one complete package: mornings and part of the day belong to German lessons, and the hours after class are filled by an activity programme that the counselors put together fresh each day from sports, games and cultural outings. Because the Don Bosco youth hostel was designed for young people, an afternoon can move from the sports hall or sports field to bouldering, table tennis or a swim in the large indoor pool, then round off in the lounge or party room with karaoke, a pub quiz, table football, a movie night or a campfire. New arrivals are eased in with dedicated welcome activities, and staff actively encourage everyone to join rather than leaving students to drift. Two excursions punctuate every week, a half day on Wednesday and a full day on Saturday, so the rhythm alternates between campus life and discovering Munich and Bavaria. Participation in the leisure programme and the excursions is compulsory, which keeps the group together and means German is being used in real situations all day, not only in the classroom.

Full board is part of the course package: students receive breakfast, lunch and dinner each day plus a daily snack. The school states portions are plentiful so students do not need to buy extra food. Special meals such as vegetarian dishes, or dishes without certain ingredients, can be provided on request.

Free wireless internet is available at the course centre, including in the dormitory rooms, so students can keep in touch with home during their free time. The days themselves are firmly structured: attendance at all classes, meals and the scheduled activities and excursions is compulsory, so devices naturally take a back seat to the German-speaking life of the group.

Pickup service · Students travelling by train are collected from Munich's main station, München Hauptbahnhof, free of charge and driven to the residence near the city centre. As with flights, please send travel details in advance so staff can be at the station at the right time; pick-ups are planned for the official arrival Sunday and the departure Saturday at the end of the course.
