by Ecole d'Humanité - International Boarding School
Ecole d'Humanité - International Boarding School runs this residential camp in Hasliberg, Switzerland. The camp welcomes children aged 13–17, with sports and languages on the programme. Typically open January to December — new dates coming soon. Sessions last 2 weeks. Activities run in English, French, and German.
For two weeks each January, the Ecole opens its doors to twelve students from outside the school. Mornings in language class, afternoons on the mountain, evenings with students from over twenty countries — not a taste of boarding school life, but the real thing: our teachers, our students, our mountain, our rhythm, right in the middle of a school year. Wintercamp works two ways. For some families, it's simply a winter in the Alps. For others, it's a test drive before deciding whether to enroll. Both are welcome — and either way, phones go in a drawer on arrival and come out to call home, so two weeks of new friends and fresh mountain air double as a digital detox too.

Have a question for the camp?
Ask a questionMornings are spent in language class — German, English, or French, depending on each student's level. Afternoons move outdoors for snow sports, with students grouped by ability and taught by professional instructors from the Swiss Ski School Association, covering both skiing and snowboarding.

Sunday excursion into Switzerland

Sunday excursion into Switzerland
The camp stays small — six to twelve participants — looked after by the same adults who run the Ecole year-round: Family Heads and Mitarbeiters living on campus. The Wintercamp leader is on the mountain each afternoon, at the table each evening, and reachable 24/7. Skiing and snowboarding are taught by Skischule Meiringen-Hasliberg's certified instructors, with groups formed by ability after a first-day assessment. Each camper gets a Helping Student to ease the first days. Families must provide Swiss-valid health and accident insurance.
dinner
Supper is shared with the whole Ecole community before the evening's activities.

Between classes in the morning
Full board is part of the stay, and meals are taken with the whole school rather than in a separate camp group, so the dining table is where campers get to know Ecole students and teachers. Supper brings everyone together before the evening programme, and Sunday mornings are relaxed with a sleep-in followed by brunch.
Wintercamp follows exactly the same phone rules that Ecole students live by during the school year: no devices at meals, in class, or overnight. Phones are allowed on the mountain for safety and while travelling, and can be checked out for short periods or to call home. The idea is simple, as the school puts it — real snow, real people, and evenings spent with the group rather than a screen.
Where your child sleeps
Wintercamp students live in Ecole housing just as the school's own boarders do, sharing a room with a roommate, with students and staff living along the same corridor so help is never far away. A small number of single rooms can be made available on request.
Amenities
The camp takes place on the Ecole d'Humanité campus on the Hasliberg, a boarding school hillside in the heart of Switzerland where classrooms look out over mountain peaks and glaciers. Campers use the school's teaching rooms for morning language classes, the Learning Center library for quiet study, and the student houses where they sleep alongside Ecole boarders and staff. Communal spaces host the whole-school gatherings that shape the week, from Schulgemeinde and Singgemeinde to Art Café evenings and the Tanzabend dance. The gondola up to the Hasliberg ski area is the starting point of each afternoon on snow.

Getting your child there
Zurich Airport
Pickup service · Zurich Airport is the usual arrival point for international families, and the school can arrange pickup on arrival day and drop-off at the end of the camp for an additional fee, which should be requested in advance when the place is confirmed. The transfer is not included in the camp fee, nor is travel to Switzerland itself. Campers travelling independently continue on to the Hasliberg campus in the Bernese Oberland.
