Activities
Life at the Summer Course is always action-packed!
In the afternoons, choose between our Multisports or our Multi-mix programme. In the Multisports programme, for four afternoons per week, you try a different sport every day- tennis, hockey, basketball, volleyball, banana boat, stand-up paddle either here on campus or by the lake. In the Multi-mix programme, you take two afternoons of sports and two afternoons of one of the following activitives – Creative Arts, Tennis Pro, Coding and Robotics or French Fun.
On Wednesday afternoons, you’ll go out on a trip with your class, to visit a famous Swiss site such as a castle, the chocolate factory, a museum or to do some kind of group workshop and afterwards, we’ll all meet up for a barbecue by the lake.
In the evenings, you’ll enjoy activities like bowling, quiz night, cinema night, cooking or ice skating and every Friday night there is a disco or silent party.
Saturday is arrival and departure day, but if you are in the middle of your stay, we will go on a trip – perhaps to visit Geneva or Berne, or maybe closer to home, around Lausanne.
On Sundays there is a whole school excursion to do something fun and active such as hiking, rock climbing, tree circuits or perhaps visiting a museum or place of cultural interest. We usually stay out all day and have a picnic.
Wherever we are, we know you’ll have fun!
Academics
French or English classes
Language lessons
You can learn English or French, with classes at every level.
On arrival, you will take a placement test to determine your level of language and to place you in the appropriate class. You’ll study your chosen language every morning for three hours and enjoy a mix of grammar and communication activities, to develop your fluency. With small classes (average 10), our teachers can help you make real progress. Sometimes, your teacher may take you off campus – to the market or to a historical site in the city – in order to put your language skills to good use.
You will have homework a few times a week, which will be completed in study time.
On a Friday, you will take a short test, reviewing what has been learnt during the week and when you leave, your teacher will write a short report about your progress.
20hours of lessons per week
Accommodation & facilities
You'll live in a boarding house with other students of the same gender. The boarding floors within a house are organised by age, with different rules for different ages. A teacher lives on the floor with you and is there to support you and take care of you. Our rooms are very comfortable and large: you will share a room with one or two other students from a different nationality. This means that you will find a common language for communication and learn about another culture. We're sure you'll make some great friends and keep in contact in years to come. Many of the rooms overlook the lake and the Alps, so you'll wake up to spectacular views. All buildings have security codes in order to guarantee your safety.Except in one house, all students share a bathroom (about 3-4 students per bathroom). The bathrooms are large and spacious and have all that you need. All your meals will be taken in our dining room, which is a large, beautiful space. You have a choice of a vegetarian or a meat menu and we take into account any special dietary needs you may have.Brillantmont is small and family owned and run. We want you to feel safe, happy and comfortable in your summer experience and we are proud that many students return year after year.
