The Rugby School Short Course Programme offers students aged 13 to 17 the opportunity to experience life at one of the world's most prestigious boarding schools. The course combines academic rigour, English language learning and cultural exploration. Students will follow an academic programme based on Rugby's timetable where they will be able to take lessons in History & Politics, Maths, Business & Economics, Physics, Art and Design Technology, and English language. Lessons are supported by tutorials and academic enrichment activities. RSSC's interdisciplinary Academic Enrichment (Æ)sessions highlight broader, connected thinking, encouraging students to make links across disciplines. Through the programme's Futures Advisory sessions students are given insights into making successful applications to elite schools and universities, such as Rugby School itself, and Oxford and Cambridge, we aim to inspire students and contribute to their personal growth.

The programme is built around a single choice: students pick one stream and follow it for the whole fortnight, either a Career Stream such as Pre Vet, Pre Medic or Performance Engineer, a Subject Stream in Combined Sciences, Business and Economics or Music and Performing Arts, or the EAL Stream built on an enquiry-led 'Discovering Britain' theme. Days follow a steady rhythm of classroom learning in small groups of no more than fifteen, taught by Rugby School teachers or by expert tutors in the relevant profession, then afternoon and evening activity and sports sessions using the school's indoor and outdoor facilities. Woven through the fortnight are Futures Advisory sessions from the Rugby School Futures department with input from the University of Warwick, mock interviews and personal statement workshops, and themed excursions that pick up where lessons left off. Two formal dinners with after-dinner speakers, assemblies and the RSSC tie give the cohort a taste of genuine Rugbeian boarding tradition rather than a generic summer school. What distinguishes it is the combination of a specific academic or career focus with full boarding life among a deliberately mixed-nationality group, so students leave with subject knowledge, a certificate and a clearer sense of where they are heading.

24/7 supervision
All elements of the programme are fully risk assessed. Staff and students are given health and safety briefings when they join the programme. There is a detailed Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy and trained safeguarding staff. All students and their parents/guardians are given a 24-hour emergency number, and a member of the senior leadership team is always contactable. All of the pastoral team are trained in first aid but If we have any concerns, we will take them to a medical centre near the School or the hospital. We ask all students to complete a detailed medical questionnaire before arrival and any pre existing conditions and medication are reviewed by our medical centre.

Dinner is taken together on site, including two formal dinners with after-dinner speakers during each two-week course.
Full board is part of every place, with three meals a day served on all on-site programme days so your child is well fed between lessons, sports and evening activities. Twice during the two weeks the cohort sits down to a formal dinner with an after-dinner speaker, a Rugbeian tradition for which students wear their RSSC tie with a white or blue formal shirt.

Screen time policy
Students are not permitted to use their phones during lessons, activities and mealtimes. However, students can use their phones first thing in the morning, at breaktimes, in the evenings and when on excursions. If they need to speak to their parents we, of course, allow them to use their phones. Our Wi-fi network is filtered and monitored.

Students stay in School House, the most traditional and 'famous' of Rugby's boarding houses. Rooms are either 2, 3 or 4-bed. The Housemaster or Housemistress and Pastoral Manager supervise students in the accommodation so that everyone feels safe and cared for. Meals are served in one of the School's refectories. There is one formal dinner per week where students are expected to dress smartly and formally. Packed lunches are provided for excursions and on visits to London and Oxford students will have dinner in a restaurant. In downtime, students can relax in the beautiful school grounds or common rooms.

Pickup service · Families driving their child in come straight to Rugby School on Lawrence Sheriff St, Rugby CV22 5EH, where students are welcomed into School House, one of the school's oldest buildings in the heart of the campus and the base for the whole programme. Whichever way your child travels, flight or travel details should be entered in the Student Portal after confirmation of the place, and parental consent forms must be signed before arrival.
