Our Residential Summer Programs at the Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) and University of British Columbia (UBC) offer a unique blend of group activities, and English language lessons tailored to various proficiency levels. Our programs allow students to experience the typical Canadian culture.

The rhythm of the programme is simple and consistent: twenty 45-minute English lessons a week fill the mornings, and the afternoons and evenings belong to activities and excursions, so learning and discovery alternate throughout the day. Lessons follow a project-based syllabus in which listening, speaking, reading and writing are practised across the week and pulled together into a small group project, then put straight to use on the trips and in the residence. Afternoons take students out into downtown Toronto or into campus sports and creative sessions, evenings bring the social side — conversation clubs, international evenings and discos in the residence lounges — and each week includes a full-day excursion plus a free day that can be used for an optional trip. Students can stay from one to six weeks with flexible start dates within the summer window, and they are placed in classes by proficiency level within a deliberately international, close-knit group. Because everything from meals to local transport is organised for them, the experience is as much a first taste of Canadian campus life and independence as it is an English course.

Staff meet students on arrival at the airport
Looking after students here goes well beyond the classroom: Oxford International places staff responsible for welfare on duty 24/7 in every centre, so there is always an adult to turn to in the residence or on excursions. A dedicated 24-hour emergency number is available to parents, students, group leaders and agents, and the programme fee includes a custodianship fee, meaning legal guardianship arrangements for under-18s travelling without their families are handled as part of the booking. The team's stated aim is to attend to students' emotional, medical and environmental needs as much as their academic progress, and staff meet arriving groups at the airport so children are accompanied from the moment they land.
Meals
Your child is fully catered for throughout the stay: the programme is all-inclusive with full-board meals taken alongside the other students, so breakfast, lunch and dinner are all covered from arrival day to departure. The residence also has floor lounges with kitchenettes, giving students a familiar place to gather between meals.

Students live and study on the Toronto Metropolitan University campus right in the middle of downtown Toronto, so the city's landmarks and transit are on the doorstep. Day-to-day life centres on the residence, where shared multi-room apartments sit alongside common areas and floor lounges with TVs and kitchenettes — the natural places for students to gather in the evening — and laundry facilities are on site. Indoor and outdoor spaces on campus are used for the interactive side of the programme, from conversation classes and sports to international evenings and discos.
