Residential English camp in London, United Kingdom

Located in beautiful grounds, just 30 minutes from Central London, Mill Hill offers short courses in both spring and summer, creating the perfect environment for both learning and enjoyment. Our courses cater to two groups: students preparing to attend British Boarding Schools and those looking to sample British education. We welcome international boys and girls aged from 12 to 17. Our courses combine English learning with either Science and Mathematics or Sport. These core elements are complemented by a varied programme of Creative Art classes including Music, Dance, Drama and Art. While our courses primarily focus on academic advancement, the diverse social programme and the exciting range of activities and excursions ensures that students find their time at Mill Hill stimulating and rewarding. Situated within the campus of internationally renowned Mill Hill School, we are proud to offer fantastic facilities, including an indoor heated swimming pool, recently refurbished classrooms, comfortable and welcoming boarding houses, and extensive sports facilities. Each week of Mill Hills short courses timetable comprises 15 hours of English, and a further 15 hours divided equally between Creative Arts and either Science and Mathematics or Sport. Creative Arts classes include Music, Dance, Drama and Art. Spring School courses last from one to two weeks, while Summer School courses last from two to eight weeks. Our courses enable young learners to consolidate their knowledge of English, whilst gaining an insight into life in a British boarding school. Each week also includes two full-day excursions for our students. One excursion takes them to nearby London, while the other explores charming destinations such as Brighton, Oxford, Cambridge, Warwick Castle, and the Harry Potter Studio Tour.

Activities

Special focus

English · Languages

Mill Hill's short courses are built around a clear academic core with a full social life wrapped around it. Every student studies English as a foreign language in small classes designed to build speaking confidence, then follows either the English Plus route or the Intensive Academic programme, pairing their English with Science and Mathematics or with Sport depending on their goals. Those core lessons are complemented by creative art classes in Music, Dance, Drama and Art, so a day moves from focused classroom work into something more expressive and physical. Afternoons and evenings bring sport, activities and an organised evening programme, and twice a week the timetable opens up entirely for a full-day excursion. The courses are aimed at two kinds of student, those preparing to enter a British boarding school and those who simply want to sample British education, and the mix of nationalities means English quickly becomes the language of friendship as well as of lessons.

I would recommend Mill Hill Summer School to my friends, it is a wonderful experience. I got to learn so many new things and had fun in the evening activities. Everyone is friendly and no one judges you. The staff were so welcoming and friendly. When you miss home there is always someone to cheer you up.

I've been to four other summer schools before but none of them were as unique as Mill Hill. I feel like my English has improved a lot and I'm happy I got to visit London and Brighton. The most important thing is the people, though. I found lots of wonderful friends who I will miss so much when I go back home.

Mill Hill Summer School was the best experience of my life. I learned a lot, and now feel much more confident while speaking English. I made a lot of new friends, learnt a lot about other cultures, and had the best time. I would recommend this experience to everyone!

Safety & Supervision

First-aid trained staff

The safety and well-being of our students is the key priority for all our staff, from the Centre Manager to the subject teachers and activity leaders. All our staff are dedicated to ensuring the welfare of our students throughout their stay. Our courses maintain a high staff-to-student ratio, and the majority of our staff are residential, staying in the same boarding houses as students. This ensures our students remain safe throughout their stay and always have someone to go to if required. In the unlikely event that it is needed, some of our staff have first aid training and, where necessary, students are taken to the local doctor or hospital for medical treatment.
