Alongside the 20 hours of weekly tuition, life at Dukes Cambridge is shaped by a social programme that fills the afternoons and evenings, so students move from seminars and workshops straight into sport, creativity and time with friends. The activity choice is broad and changes through the fortnight: tennis, badminton, basketball, football, cricket, rounders and ball games for those who want to be active, fitness classes and yoga for a gentler option, and arts and crafts, creative writing or a photo challenge for students who prefer to make something. Evenings pull the whole group together for quiz nights, karaoke, Secret Cinema screenings and the Trashion and Fashion Shows, which is usually where the friendships across nationalities are formed. The rhythm of each week is punctuated by academic milestones too, with tutor-led fieldwork out in the city and a Time to Shine group presentation at the end of the week, and by supervised free time in Cambridge for a taste of independence. The fortnight closes with a graduation party where certificates, progress reports and reference letters are presented and students celebrate together before heading home.
