The programme runs as a fixed two-week course that blends 30 hours of English language tuition with an activity strand each student chooses for themselves. Mornings belong to the classroom, taught in small groups of no more than sixteen by teachers from EngXcel, the school's British Council-accredited teaching partner, so progress is real rather than incidental. Afternoons follow a chosen academy: Multi-activity, Intensive English, Creative Arts, Performing Arts, Football or Tennis, selected at the time of booking, with a separate choice for each of the two weeks, so a child can commit to one specialism for a fortnight or sample two. Around this sit evening activities, mixed-nationality team events and five excursions, two half-day and three full-day. With around 135 students per course from more than twenty countries and thirty residential staff living on site, the days are closely structured and consistently supervised, which is what allows students who arrive knowing nobody to settle quickly. Many families come back for a second, third or even fourth summer.

The camp follows strong safeguarding procedures and has trained staff available 24 hours a day. All staff receive First Aid training, and students have quick access to local medical care, including the Herts & Essex Hospital just 10 minutes away. Health, wellbeing and safety are central to the school’s award-winning pastoral care.
Meals
Three meals a day are part of the course fee, so breakfast, lunch and dinner are all taken care of from arrival to departure and the programme is genuinely all-inclusive. Between meals there is a tuck shop on campus where students can buy snacks and refreshments with a little pocket money or a cash card. Dietary needs such as vegetarian or halal are collected on the registration form before arrival so the kitchen knows about them in advance, alongside any allergies, which are shared with the pastoral care team.

Screen time policy
Students are welcome to bring mobile phones, but usage is sensibly managed to help them stay focused, safe and socially engaged. Phones may be used freely during designated free-time periods—such as before breakfast, in the residence, and after evening activities—but not during lessons, afternoon sessions, excursions (except for photos), or organised evening events. Staff remind students if usage becomes distracting, and in rare cases may hold a phone temporarily to support positive behaviour. WiFi is available campus-wide, and parents are encouraged to contact their child during suitable free-time hours, with staff always available for urgent communication.

The College sits on the edge of the historic market town of Bishop's Stortford, just west of the M11 between London and Cambridge, at Maze Green Road, CM23 2PQ. If you are bringing your child yourself the easiest windows are 2pm to 4pm for arrivals and 9am to 11am for departures; outside those hours simply let the summer school know and someone will be there to meet you. Pickup service · Heathrow is the second included gateway: the return transfer is complimentary for students travelling on the Tuesday transfer day, with staff meeting your child in the terminal on arrival and handing them over at check-in on departure. As with Stansted, the transfer has to be booked and flight details provided at least four weeks before the course starts. Families using any other airport, or arriving outside transfer day, should send their travel plans before booking so a supplement can be quoted.

Bishop's Stortford's centrally located railway station is a short walk from the College and has frequent daily services to Cambridge (about 30 minutes) and London Liverpool Street (about 45 minutes), which makes it a practical option for families travelling within the UK. Station pick-ups are not part of the complimentary transfer package, so send your arrival details when booking and the team will quote a private transfer.
