Nestled in the breathtaking Topa Topa Mountains of Ojai, CA, just 1.5 hours from the vibrant city of Los Angeles, Amplify beckons campers from across the U.S. and around the world. Our affordable 2-week sessions, extendable up to 8 weeks, offer a transformative journey for campers to delve into their passions. Choose from a range of creative focuses, guided by top-notch instructors in music, photography, film (including music video making), theater, music production, skateboarding, dance, choreography, and more. At Amplify, the adventure doesn’t stop there. Campers craft their own schedules with daily fully elective activities, providing a plethora of options like screen printing, DJing, swimming, beach days, surfing, karaoke, dance parties under the stars and more. Amplify ensures an unforgettable summer, fostering creativity, a deep sense of belonging and friendship in a secure, supportive, and age-appropriate environment. Join us for a summer like no other! At Amplify, kids have a fantastic time diving into the world of music. They get to learn an instrument (or get more skilled on one they already play), join forces with others to create a band, craft their own original songs, and showcase their talents on stage for the entire camp community. Whether it’s indie, pop, metal, folk, R&B, funk, blues – you name it, our camper bands explore every genre under the sun, embracing their authentic voices. All of our staff are qualified, highly trained, and hand-picked positive mentors who LOVE CAMP. Amplify staff are an integral part of our ability to provide an award-winning camp experience. In addition to often being experienced experts and educators in their field, most staff have been with us for several years. Our very low staff-to-camper ratio of 1:6 also ensures a level of instruction, engagement, and mentoring that makes the experience unforgettable.

Amplify is built around a single creative focus each camper chooses before she arrives, called an immersive, and the day is split between long studio blocks in that major and daily electives picked in a choose-your-own-adventure format. Campers move through camp with their own grade cohort, from Electric Youth in grades three to five up to the Leaders in Training in grades eleven and twelve, so dorm section, electives and immersive groups are all age-matched and older campers earn extra privileges, trips and leadership responsibility. Mornings from 9:30 and afternoons from 3:15 are creative time, with lunch, swimming, jam rooms, art spaces and a dorm rest hour in between, and evenings turn into camp-wide programming from dance parties to outdoor movies and live bands. Everything the campers make points toward the Final Showcase that closes each session, when bands perform, films screen and projects are revealed. What sets the programme apart is the deliberate choice of collaboration over competition: this is not a sports camp, there are no auditions or prerequisites, and staff who are working artists and educators meet beginners and advanced players at exactly the level they arrive at.

My daughter loves Amplify Sleep Away Camp. On our way home from her two week stay this year she said, “Camp makes me feel like there’s so many people that care about me. It’s like a little bubble of happiness.” Both times she’s gone she’s learned so much about herself, about working with others, and about creativity in different forms. The staff are caring and the entire program is well-organized and inspired.

I went to this camp as a kid and loved every minute of it. I’m 22 now and still talk about it like it was yesterday. Amazing staff, fun activities, and the best memories ever.

My daughter attended Amplify a couple of summers ago and it was an incredible experience for her. It was her first experience with a sleep away camp and while she definitely had to overcome some nerves, in the end, she raved about the teachers, activities and food! Our experience with check in was seamless and everyone was so kind, welcoming and reassuring. The range of programs they have available is amazing, and it's just so cool to find a space that lets girls truly explore their creativity and grow in such an organic way. She came home feeling so confident in herself and that has definitely carried into her life since. She hasn't been able to return just due to scheduling conflicts the last two summers, but we have it on the list for her to come again when the timing is right, along with her younger sister. Highly recommend. Please give it the chance if you're on the fence. This is a truly great program!

My daughter spent two weeks at the camp and is ready to go back. Just absolutely loved it!. What she loved best about the camp were her teachers and counselors. She said ” Mom, I have so much respect for them. I feel like they cared about me”. Would definitely recommend!

Amplify is designed as a place where campers put their devices down: the Ojai setting is chosen precisely to give girls space to unplug, connect face to face and create, and phones and personal electronics are not part of camp life. The directors are candid that this is the single biggest worry teens arrive with, and just as candid that it is the thing those same teens most often say they are grateful for by the end of the summer, with support and advice offered to families beforehand to make the transition easy. Parents are not left in the dark in the meantime: photos, videos and updates are posted throughout each session in a private Facebook group for enrolled families, and directors share their contact details so they can be reached anytime.

Getting your child there
LAX
Pickup service · Los Angeles International is the airport Amplify works with, about a 90-minute drive south of the Ojai campus. Staff meet flying campers at baggage claim and stay with them right through to arrival at camp, and dedicated camper shuttles run to and from LAX with trained staff on board every trip. The team coordinates details directly with families of unaccompanied minors and international travellers, so flight times and airline paperwork are arranged with a director before travel.
