Dive deep into your passions and turn your aspirations into reality with our academic immersion courses. Our instructors are experienced professionals who give students real-world insight into their field of interest: For example, learn law from an attorney who argued before the U.S. Supreme Court, take emergency medicine courses with ER doctors or build your writing portfolio under the guidance of a published journalist. Summer Springboard has both DAY CAMP and SLEEPAWAY CAMP options for Middle School and High School programs on the campuses of: UC Berkeley / Yale / Georgetown / Columbia (Barnard College) / New York School of Interior Design / UCLA / UC Santa Barbara / UC San Diego / MIT / Duke University / Cal Poly SLO / Georgia Tech / University of Michigan / University of Washington / Oxford

This is a pre-college programme rather than a rotation of activities: before arriving, your teen chooses one course from the Summer Springboard catalogue and spends the fortnight inside it, working in a small cohort with an instructor who earns their living in that field. The day has a clear shape, with the academic course through the morning, an academic excursion or recreational outing after lunch, and then a college readiness workshop or a True You session in the late afternoon, so learning, exploring and reflecting each get their own slot. The True You curriculum is what distinguishes the programme most: alongside the subject content, students are guided through structured reflection on their strengths, values and possible majors, and mentor group discussions turn that into concrete thinking about college choices. Evenings belong to the residential community, with mentor-led clubs and social activities before dorm checks, and weekends open up for excursions. The whole design points at one outcome, which is that a student leaves knowing whether the field they were curious about is really theirs.

This program was so much fun! The mentors, staff, and other students were all so supportive and kind, I loved getting to know everyone. My class was seriously a blast and we had the best teacher ever. The campus is beautiful and I’m so glad I got this opportunity to explore Cal Poly because I would love to come here for college!

I had a lot of fun these past two weeks. This is my top school so it was really awesome to be able to experience what attending this university and college in general would be like. All the mentors and leaders were really fun and awesome, they were super approachable which made me feel really welcomed here. All the activities were great and I loved the weekend excursions. Overall I had a great experience at Summer Springboard!!

"Going to Summer Springboard is probably one of the best things I have done to date. I have met new people, strengthening my social skills and helping me adapt to new situations. I learned how college life could look like, and I got to experience it as a residential student living in a dorm. Summer Springboard is a program that allows you to experience discomfort for much needed growth. Being away from home, studying new topics and being around people from all over the world can all be uncomfortable. However, the program showed me that in order to accumulate growth you need to embark on new and uncomfortable experiences. Although, Summer Springboard made going on an unknown adventure and self discovery safe and secure!

At Summer Springboard, our number one priority is creating a safe and secure environment for our students. All of our campus locations have been selected based on their distinction for safety and comfort. All program staff go through a rigorous background check and a training program to ensure students not only learn, but do so in the safest way possible. Staff are trained in our 5-Point Safety System which ensures that issues are addressed efficiently and safely, and that students, parents, staff, and campus partners are in close communication. Students are required to stay within pre-determined campus boundaries that they can explore during their free time, if a student is off campus (within the boundaries) they must travel within groups of three. Our campus dorms are patrolled by campus police and our staff are available 24/7 for any issues or emergencies that may arise.

Eating is part of the college rehearsal here: your teen starts the day with breakfast alongside the other students, breaks at midday for lunch and comes back at the end of a full day for dinner, with most meals taken in the university dining hall. The menus are broad and made to order from a variety of fresh options, so students help themselves and linger over the table with new friends rather than being served a set plate. The kitchen accommodates vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, kosher and halal diets as well as common food allergies, so families with specific requirements can plan with confidence. Residential tuition covers all meals; commuter students are provided with lunch on programme days.

Again, this will vary somewhat by campus. Most dorms are 2 - 4 capacity; each student will have their own bed. Bathrooms are sometimes en suite but sometimes per hall. Students have access to resident hall facilities, which may include a gym, game room etc. Students eat in the dining hall or may also have off-campus options.

Drop-off on the UCLA campus
Families who drive bring their child directly to the University of California, Los Angeles campus at Los Angeles, CA 90095, where check-in and move-in to the residence hall take place on the first day of the session and departure happens on the final day. Summer Springboard staff, including the Campus Director and Assistant Campus Director, are based in the dorms and are the people you will meet on arrival. Optional airport pickup and drop-off service
Pickup service · For students flying in on their own, Summer Springboard runs an optional airport pickup and drop-off service that is not part of residential tuition and is charged as an additional fee, so it needs to be requested and arranged with the Admissions Team when flights are booked. Students who do not use the service make their own way to the UCLA campus for check-in.
