Smith Stearns has an excellent tennis training program that has an emphasis on individual junior player development. Not only do our students get the opportunity to practice with a variety of players but also get the one-on-one time needed to truly develop their game. Our track record speaks for itself, as we developed hundreds of state, sectional, national, and international champions, as well as having the best college placement program in the country. Students join us from all around the world to be trained by our world class coaches and be a part of our academy experience. With a passionate commitment to excellence, we help students achieve a well-rounded life so they are better prepared and poised for success in all areas of life. Our boarding program is also one of a kind. In contrast to the dormitory housing at many tennis academies, Smith Stearns provides four single-family homes, each with full-time supervision by resident house parents. We aim to promote a family style atmosphere – a true home away from home. House parents provide transportation, do laundry and cook meals – in addition to providing caring supervision and guidance. The homes are spacious and offer a common living area, dining area, kitchen, laundry space, student bedrooms and bathrooms, and a houseparent suite. Students share bedrooms which they are able to personalize to their taste, and an adjoining bathroom. Each student has their own study space and wireless internet access is available throughout the house. Delicious home cooked meals are provided and each student has the ability to request their favorite foods on a weekly shopping list. Our house parents can accommodate various nutrition requests and food allergies as well. In addition to the academy fulltime and summer program, we offer a variety of program supplements to help our students. Our tournament coaching program is always of large importance to families as we provide coaching or chaperoned coaching at a variety of tournaments including state, sectional, national, and ITF level. Our top level coaches are available for private lessons so that each student can work on all of the specific areas of their game that need extra attention. Our sports performance center has been a great addition and provides the opportunity to work with our students on group fitness, group yoga, personal training sessions and informational talks. Group Fitness is held on Monday and Wednesday afternoons from 5:15-6:15 and Yoga on Thursday afternoons from 4:30-5:30. The Sports Performance Center is located in the Sea Pines Center off Lighthouse Road. Academy Program Fees: (Housing Additional – see below) Fall/Winter/Spring Academy Tuition: $250 Daily | $1195 Weekly Summer Academy Tuition: $250 Daily | $1195 Weekly Academy Tuition with Housing: $125.00 Daily | $800 Weekly Our fulltime program runs Monday through Saturday and is as follows: Monday - Friday 8:00-10:00 AM and 2:30-5:30 PM (which includes 45 minutes of on court fitness and Saturdays 8:00-10:00 AM. Match play is mixed in during the week along with drilling, technique, strategy and on court conditioning. The fee for one week of academy (Mon-Sat) is $1195 , Daily (both AM & PM) is $250.00, AM session $125.00 and PM session $125.00. Please note: Summer Academy hours are 8-10 AM and 2-5 PM Saturdays will be 8-10 AM. You will need to fill out the guest registration form and send it in once you have made a decision on the dates that your child will attend. The academy and housing includes all clinic sessions and meals and transportation to and from the court. It does not include private lessons or tournament fees and there is a fee of $75.00 to and from Savannah airport whenever we you might need pickups or drop-offs.
