About

Connecting teenagers from around the world, at More Than English we take students (12-17) on a journey of personal development: linguistic, academic, social, mindset. More Than English is one of the UK’s only independent, campus based international summer schools. From our spectacular boarding school campus in the of the heart England countryside, we create a ‘home from home’ environment where teenagers from different countries can make friends fast and discover the joy of learning to live and study together and communicate across cultures.

From Leadership to Performing Arts and Language courses, we offer a range a wide range of study options perfect not only for students who want to improve their English, but also for those who want to experience using their English as a tool to study new subjects. Every student has a choice of Subjects in the morning and Specialisms in the afternoon followed by a creative and dynamic activity and excursion programme. However, what we think we think parents love more than anything else is the cosy atmosphere: the safe, secure environment on campus at Moor Park: this is the magic ingredient that gives our students the confidence to face new challenges, develop new friendships and make memories that last a lifetime.

Established in 2015, More Than English is fully accredited with ‘Premier College Status’ and commendable grades in 6 areas including: Student Welfare, Quality Assurance and Learning and Teaching.

Accommodation

The UK is famous for its country houses, and our campus, Moor Park, was once a family home with connections to the British Royal Family especially King Edward VII. Now one of the UK’s top boarding schools; Moor Park nevertheless, still feels like a family home.
Uniquely, all accommodation is in the historic Grande Residence. Bedrooms are beautifully decorated and boys and girls sleep on separate floors. The result of spending so much time together is that the students make friends faster and the atmosphere is like one big family.

The main language used at More Than English is English.

Language lessons

We offer a range of English language courses suitable for different levels:
ENGLISH LANGUAGE A2-B1 (Class size: 11) English is an essential tool for success in life. We use active teaching methods because when students find lessons interesting and enjoy learning they progress faster. Your child will improve their speaking, listening, writing and reading skills. With small sizes and a supportive learning environment we enable students to communicate fluently and deliver presentations with confidence.
Students are divided into classes according to age, English level and nationality.
Key learning outcomes:
  • Increased confidence and fluency, taking part e.g. in discussions & presentations
  • Richer knowledge of grammar and vocabulary
  • Confidence collaborating and working in international teams

    • ADVANCED ENGLISH B2-C1 (Class size: 11)
    Expert teachers help students take their language skills to the next level so they are ready to use English for work and study in the future. Students deepen their knowledge of grammar and vocabulary by researching and then evaluating ideas from different perspectives. Drawing their own conclusions, your child will collaborate with classmates to inform and persuade others about the big issues affecting their world.
    Students are divided into classes according to age, English level and nationality.
    Key learning outcomes:
    • Improved academic skills: panel discussions, debates, reports, essays
    • Confidence using English to explore and evaluate ideas
    • Enhanced knowledge and more precise use of vocabulary & grammar
