More Than English runs this residential language camp in Ludlow, United Kingdom. The camp welcomes children aged 12–17, with sports, arts & crafts, and adventure on the programme. Typically open July to August — new dates coming soon. Sessions last 1–4 weeks.
Connecting teenagers from around the world, at More Than English we take students (12-17) on a journey of personal development: linguistic, academic, social, mindset. More Than English is one of the UK’s only independent, campus based international summer schools. From our spectacular boarding school campus in the of the heart England countryside, we create a ‘home from home’ environment where teenagers from different countries can make friends fast and discover the joy of learning to live and study together and communicate across cultures. From Leadership to Performing Arts and Language courses, we offer a range a wide range of study options perfect not only for students who want to improve their English, but also for those who want to experience using their English as a tool to study new subjects. Every student has a choice of Subjects in the morning and Specialisms in the afternoon followed by a creative and dynamic activity and excursion programme. However, what we think we think parents love more than anything else is the cosy atmosphere: the safe, secure environment on campus at Moor Park: this is the magic ingredient that gives our students the confidence to face new challenges, develop new friendships and make memories that last a lifetime. Established in 2015, More Than English is fully accredited with ‘Premier College Status’ and commendable grades in 6 areas including: Student Welfare, Quality Assurance and Learning and Teaching. School founders David Meddows and Claire Norwood would love to meet you online and answer all your questions.

More Than English is built around the idea that students design their own course rather than following a fixed timetable. Each student chooses one Subject or Sports Academy for the mornings, fifteen hours a week from eight options that range from Business and Entrepreneurship and Global Leadership to English Language and Advanced English, and then one of ten Pro Specialisms for the afternoons, ten hours a week across Active Adventure, Creative Arts, Pro Sports and Academic strands. That gives twenty-five hours of learning a week, all in the single inclusive price, taught in classes of no more than eleven students with a deliberately wide mix of nationalities so that English is the only realistic common language. Afternoons and evenings flow into the social programme, which adds more than twenty hours of activities a week plus one full-day and two half-day excursions, with Extra Adventures for those who want to fit in more. Specialisms are taught by professionals who do this for a living, from an LTA Level 4 tennis coach and a PGA golf pro to a film company owner and a working actress, so a fortnight typically ends with a film premiere, a stage show or a measurable jump in a sport. With a staff to student ratio of 1:4 and house parents on duty around the clock, the ambition of the programme sits inside a very closely supervised boarding-school routine.

breakfast
Continental-style breakfast
Meals are served in the school's three dining rooms, with a balanced menu that mixes traditional British dishes and international food, plus fresh fruit and salads. Staff sit with students at meal times. Families report special dietary requirements on the medical form.
Where your child sleeps
The UK is famous for its country houses, and our campus, Moor Park, was once a family home with connections to the British Royal Family especially King Edward VII. Now one of the UK’s top boarding schools; Moor Park nevertheless, still feels like a family home. Uniquely, all accommodation is in the historic Grande Residence. Bedrooms are beautifully decorated and boys and girls sleep on separate floors. The result of spending so much time together is that the students make friends faster and the atmosphere is like one big family.

Getting your child there
Birmingham (BHX)
Pickup service · Birmingham is the closest and easiest arrival airport, around 1 hour 20 minutes by road from the campus at Moor Park. School coach airport transfers from Birmingham are part of the all-inclusive package, and members of the summer school team meet students at the airport before travelling with them to Ludlow, so your child is in company from the moment they land.
By car to Moor Park
Parents driving their child themselves come straight to the campus at Moor Park, Overton, Ludlow SY8 4DZ, a 20 hectare estate just outside the medieval market town of Ludlow in the centre of England. The school sits within easy reach of the motorway network, roughly two hours from Oxford, Bath, Chester and Bristol, and the town itself is only a five minute minibus ride (or a twenty minute walk across fields and woodland) from the gates. · More than English, Moor Park, Overton, Ludlow SY8 4DZ, United Kingdom
London Heathrow (LHR)
Pickup service · For families flying into London, Heathrow is about 2 hours 30 minutes from campus and is also covered by the included school coach airport transfers. As at Birmingham, staff meet arriving students at the airport and accompany them on the coach journey up to Ludlow, and the same service brings them back for departure.
