Our Oxford centre is hosted in the prestigious St Edwards school, near Oxford city centre. Only 1.5 hours from London, Oxford is a historic city famous for its ancient university. We host five English language courses at this centre, for students aged 12-17. The centre has 32 tennis courts, a cricket pitch and pavilion, dance studio, and its own concert hall. Oxford is a small, safe and beautiful city, full of culture and history. Students will learn English, meet new friends from all over the world, explore London and other parts of the UK on fantastic supervised study trips, and enhance life skills such as confidence, team-working and independence. There are on-site social activities every evening and the courses focus on learning through fun, with different topics every week. Students will be looked after 24/7 by IH London on-site staff and we’ll meet them at London Heathrow airport upon arrival.

The Oxford programme is built on three pillars the school calls Learn, Explore and Grow, and the timetable follows them faithfully: mornings belong to English lessons in small international classes of no more than fifteen students, afternoons to activities or specialist coaching, and evenings to the social programme. Weeks run Wednesday to Wednesday, opening with placement testing, an introduction to the school and a walking tour of Oxford so nobody spends the first days feeling lost. From Thursday onwards students choose their afternoon path, either the daily sports and activities block at 16:00 or an English+ specialism such as football, tennis, dance or movie-making taught by professional coaches, while those on the Intensive or Future Leaders tracks spend that time on extra lessons, workshops and project work leading to a final presentation. Saturdays are full-day excursions and Sundays are 'Build Your Own Summer School', where students pick their own outing from the excursion menu. Evenings are structured but sociable, with quizzes, talent shows, movie nights and discos, then house time and a house meeting before lights out. What ties it together is that English is never confined to the classroom: nationalities are mixed on purpose, so the pitch, the studio and the coach journey all become places where your child actually uses the language.

Your child eats three cooked meals a day on campus, starting with breakfast at 8:00 before morning assembly and lessons, lunch at 12:30 between classes and afternoon activities, and dinner at 18:00 before house time and the evening programme. All meals are part of the full-board residential stay, and the welfare team takes dietary requirements and allergies seriously, checking in with students regularly about how they are eating and settling in. On Saturday excursion days a packed lunch travels with the group so nobody goes hungry between landmarks.

We provide single, twin, triple or quad rooms, each with an individual study desk, wardrobe and storage space. Each boarding house contains comfortable student lounges with a TV and space for students to socialise. We have dedicated welfare staff in each house and maintain separate sleeping facilities for boys and girl. We provide a regular laundry service and all bed linen is changed once a week. Students share bathrooms with other students of the same gender. We also have a premium boarding house option available for students at Oxford.

Getting your child there
Airport
Heathrow
Pickup service · Heathrow is the airport most families choose for the Oxford centre, and transfers are arranged by IH London for an additional fee that you book at the time of enrolment rather than on arrival. Staff meet arriving students at the airport and bring them to campus on the Wednesday arrival day, where check-in, house parents and orientation activities are waiting. On the final day students are accompanied back to the airport for their departure, and the airlines' unaccompanied minor (UM) service can be arranged for a fee if your child is flying alone. Transfers are also available from Gatwick, Stansted and Luton on the same basis.

Families driving to Oxford bring their child straight to the centre at St Edward's School, Woodstock Road, Oxford OX2 7NN, where arrivals and check-in take place on Wednesdays. Students meet their house parents, settle into their rooms and join a welcome event with classmates from around the world, so there is time to see where your child will be living before you say goodbye. Departures are on the following Wednesday.
