IH London’s London Young Learner Centre is held our world famous school in Covent Garden, central London. We host one English language course at this centre, for students aged 12-17. Students stay in secure and modern accommodation located a short walk from the school. Students will learn English, meet new friends from all over the world, explore London and other parts of the UK on fantastic supervised study trips, and enhance life skills such as confidence, team-working and independence. There are on-site social activities every evening and the courses focus on learning through fun, with different topics every week. Students will be looked after 24/7 by IH London on-site staff and we’ll meet them at London Heathrow airport upon arrival. At our London centre we also offer a 'Tuition + Social programme only' course, where students are able to study with us in the morning and join excursions in the afternoon, before returning to their family or guardians in the evening. The programme is built on three simple pillars the school calls learn, explore and grow, and the timetable makes them visible: every morning is lessons, every afternoon is activities or excursions, and every evening is social time with the friends your child has just made. Afternoons are a choice rather than a fixed rotation, with English+ sessions, a menu of sports and creative activities from 16:00, and optional specialist coaching in football, tennis, dance or movie-making for students on the English+ course, while Future Leaders students spend that slot in workshops with guest speakers heading towards their final pitch. Saturdays are handed over to a full-day excursion, and the 'Build Your Own Summer School' slot lets students choose which trip they take from the Oxford excursion menu, so the summer feels like theirs. Evenings run to quizzes, talent shows, movie nights and discos, finishing with house time and a house meeting so each day closes with the same familiar routine. With classmates from more than 60 countries and lessons capped at 15, English stops being a school subject and becomes the way the whole day works.

Full board means your child never has to think about food: breakfast at 8:00 before morning assembly, lunch at 12:30 between the two lesson blocks, and dinner at 18:00 before the evening programme, seven days a week. On Saturday excursion days a packed lunch travels with the group so the day out is uninterrupted. Dietary requirements and allergies are catered for, and the centre's welfare officers take responsibility for these alongside the rest of a student's wellbeing, checking in regularly. Students on the London City Explorer day programme have lunch included rather than full board.

Heathrow
Pickup service · Heathrow is the most used arrival airport and transfers are arranged by the school when you book: choose the transfer option as you enrol and the fee is added to your invoice. Arrivals fall on Wednesdays, when your child is met and brought to the centre for check-in, an introduction to their house parents, room settling-in and the welcome and orientation activities. On the final day of the course students are accompanied to their airport departure by staff, and if your child is travelling as an unaccompanied minor the airline UM service can be arranged for an additional fee.
By car
By car to Covent Garden
Families bringing their child themselves come to International House London at 16 Stukeley Street, Covent Garden, WC2B 5LQ, in the heart of central London. Arrival and check-in happen on Wednesdays from around 9:00, with campus welcome, orientation activities and the chance to meet staff before the programme starts. The school sits within walking distance of several Underground stations, the closest being Covent Garden on the Piccadilly line and Holborn on the Central and Piccadilly lines, so public transport is straightforward for day-programme students arriving each morning. Pickup service · Gatwick is one of the four London airports covered by the school's transfer service. The transfer must be booked at the time of enrolment and carries an additional fee, with staff meeting your child on the Wednesday arrival day and bringing them to the centre for check-in and orientation. Departures at the end of the course are accompanied by staff, and the unaccompanied minor service can be added for a fee.

Pickup service · Transfers from Stansted are available as an optional extra and should be requested when you enrol rather than later, as the fee is added to the booking. Your child is met at the airport on the Wednesday arrival day and taken to the centre, where check-in, house parents and welcome activities are waiting. Staff accompany students back to the airport on departure day, and the airline unaccompanied minor service can be arranged for a fee.

Pickup service · Luton is included in the school's optional airport transfer service, booked at enrolment for an extra charge. A member of the team meets your child at the airport on the Wednesday arrival day and accompanies them to the centre for check-in and the welcome programme, and students are escorted back for their flight on the final day. Unaccompanied minor service is available for a fee if your child is flying alone.
