Camp Wekeela

Camp Wekeela is a single-site overnight camp on Little Bear Pond in Hartford, Maine, run by its own resident directors who welcome families to visit and drop their children off in person. The team of department heads, group leaders and counsellors is made up of trained professional educators and mature college students recruited from the US, Mexico, Canada, Europe, Australia, South Africa, China and New Zealand, and around 40% of staff are former Wekeela campers. The camp keeps its community deliberately small, about 280 campers per session drawn from 37 US states and 33 countries, with the stated aim that every camper has a counsellor as a role model.
