Activities

Special focus

Multi-activity · Sports & Outdoor

Timber Lake West packs a full-season feeling into two shorter co-ed sessions, and the daily programme rests on three pillars: athletics, waterfront and electives. A typical day moves through five activity periods between breakfast and dinner, with clean-up and huddle in the morning, a rest hour after lunch, an afternoon snack break, shower hour before dinner, then free play and canteen followed by an evening activity. Some periods are set with the bunk group, while the elective programme lets each camper shape part of their own schedule and go deeper into what they love. Running through it all is the STARFISH values programme, which culminates every Friday evening when the whole camp gathers in the Amphitheatre and counsellors tell the story of campers who showed those values that week. Because the sessions are four weeks rather than a whole summer, families can pair West with other plans, and first-time campers get a gentler stepping stone into resident camp.

I just wanted to send a quick note thank you all for the wonderful experience Zack had this past month at Timber Lake West. It was all we hoped / dreamed for when we sent him there. I read your very heartfelt email to him and he definitely connected with it. And earlier today when my daughter ran after a loose basketball that Zack couldn't get a hold of and brought it back to him, he said, "Sydney, that was very starfish of you.". You all made a lasting impact on our son and our family and I felt you should hear that. Zack has made wonderful friends that I hope will last a lifetime but what I do know without doubt will last a lifetime is the amazing memories he has from this first experience at sleepaway camp. He is counting down the days until next summer!

Just wanted to say thank you. Nicky had the best experience at camp. He made such a great group of friends (they already have sleepover plans). Nicky also connected with your great counselors and he will miss them a lot. Of course Nicky is asking me to sign him up for next year! Thanks again for a fantastic summer camp! We will see you all next year.

This was definitely Alexa’s BEST summer EVER (in her own words)!!!! She is terribly missing camp, camp friends and counselors (as we expected)...it is a testament to what an amazing camp you run, the fantastic campers that attend TLW and the quality people you employ. Thanks for another AMAZING summer and for taking such great care of our girl. It warms our hearts that Alexa will have such wonderful Catskill camp memories and friendships that will be with her forever.
