Summer Camps for Children aged 8-15

The Summer Camp Trust host a traditional British summer camp held in a private Castle set in the most glorious countryside not too far from Hadrians Wall. Our history of summer camps steps back a little over 60 years. Camp is entirely residential and offers a uniquely creative programme of fun and community spirit. The Trust believes that well-run residential summer camps are a uniquely happy and valuable experience for the children and young adult leaders who take part. A typical summer camp brings together 40 – 50 young people from all parts of the U.k. With just 12 spots out of the 40 or so UK children at camp, are made available for campers from overseas. They are welcomed and enriched by a truly British experience of being allowed to just get on with having fun and forming friendship with other campers through a well structured and supportive programme. Featherstone Castle is In a truly rural setting. Many of our campers enjoy the journey to camp almost as much as camp! The week is spent away from screens, social media and the pressures of everyday life, the young people quickly become a happy and supportive community. They make new friends with peers they might never otherwise have met, and enjoy a wide range of imaginative camp activities - from all kinds of games and crafts to singing round the camp fire, telling stories by torchlight and exploring the woods. Above all they have the freedom to be active, have fun, and enjoy spending time together in the outdoors. Or, in the many splendid rooms that only a real Castle offers. All camp leaders are highly trained, vetted and will have completed a rigorous 7 day residential training course before camp starts. They are complemented by a team of Assistant Directors, Matrons, Cook and the Camp Director.
