Build confidence in English, make international friends and enjoy a summer by the sea with British Learning Academy. Based at the University of Portsmouth, our residential General English programme combines practical morning lessons with activities, excursions and everyday opportunities to use English. General English includes 15 hours of tuition each week, with levels from A1 to C1 and a pre-arrival online placement test. Interactive lessons build speaking confidence alongside grammar, vocabulary, listening, reading and writing. Students stay in Rees Hall, with single and twin en-suite rooms, or Burrell House, with shared bathrooms. Full board, study materials, an end-of-course certificate, afternoon and evening activities, one full-day excursion and two half-day excursions each week are included. Visits may include London, Brighton, the Isle of Wight, Winchester, Chichester or Arundel; timetables vary. Sports, creative activities and social evenings help students use English beyond the classroom. Summer 2027: 20 June to 31 July. Ages 11–17; 18-year-olds may join as part of a group. General English costs £1,100 per student for 7 nights / 8 days. An en-suite single room adds £50 per week; airport transfers are extra. BLA confirms availability, room allocation and a written quotation before booking. A 20% deposit confirms your place; the balance is due four weeks before arrival. Staff have enhanced DBS checks and safeguarding training, with staff on call 24 hours a day. Discuss dietary requirements and allergies before booking.
