Residential academic camp in Lugano, Switzerland

TASIS — The American School in Switzerland runs its teen summer programs on the hillside campus above Lake Lugano, a 25-building global village stretching from the 17th-century Villa De Nobili to the modern Campo Science Center. Students aged roughly 11–17 from more than 50 nations combine intensive academic courses, advanced sports training and an extensive outdoor-adventure menu — whitewater rafting, canyoning, kayaking, waterskiing and more — with cultural excursions across Switzerland and Italy, from Zermatt and Zurich to Florence, Rome and Venice. Boarding and day options are available through the summer sessions.

Activities

Special focus

Academic · Academic

The programme is built around one clear commitment: each student selects a single primary course and studies it for several hours every day, whether that is a language, a performing or visual arts track, academic writing, IB preparation, STEAM or a business subject. Everything else, the sports, music, arts, activities and weekend day trips included in tuition, is chosen on arrival during registration, so the afternoons and weekends are shaped by the students actually in the session rather than fixed months in advance. Middle School students (11-13) and High School students (14-17) follow their own course lists and age-appropriate activity mixes while sharing the same campus above Lugano. Families who want a deeper specialism can add sports clubs, from Milan Academy soccer to sailing and golf, or optional overnight trips, at extra cost. The session builds towards the Summer Arts Festival, where musical theatre performances, films, STEAM projects, architecture models and photography are shared with the whole community.

Driving to campus

Families driving take the A2 motorway and leave at the Lugano-Sud exit, turning left at the first lights towards Ponte Tresa, then left onto Via Paradiso and up the winding hill; after the Tamoil gas station turn left, then left again onto Via Collina d'Oro towards Montagnola/Agra. Follow the road through Gentilino, pass the Sant'Abbondio church and take the sharp switchback right, where the white wall reading The American School in Switzerland appears on your left. Park in the School's own lot immediately after the main gate, or in the public blue-zone spaces opposite, which allow one hour with a parking disc. Note that a Swiss motorway toll sticker is required to drive on Swiss highways. · TASIS The American School In Switzerland, Via Collina d'Oro 15, 6926 Montagnola, Switzerland
