Over two weeks your child follows one chosen subject in depth, with 35 hours of teaching in a curriculum written and delivered by expert tutors, alongside hands-on workshops, exhibition and challenge days and guest lectures from world-leading experts. The academic core is deliberately university-flavoured: interactive lessons and seminars, masterclasses, faculty visits at Yale and debates that push reasoning and public speaking, all set in the college halls where students also live and eat. Around the classroom sits a daily social timetable of activities, tours and trips, including creative workshops, group outings to museums, galleries and Yale faculties, a Journalism Club, a Debate Society with a grand final, and friendly sport at the Payne Whitney Gym. Everything happens as part of a supervised cohort, since in the USA students only leave campus with a counsellor, which lets the team build a full day from morning lessons through to evening events. The fortnight closes with a graduation ceremony, celebration dinner and party in a New Haven venue, and a certificate of completion recording the course, dates and campus.

I think Oxford Royale has been an absolutely invaluable experience, and it is perfectly exemplified in the slogan of the programme: travel to learn and learn to travel. Meeting new people and living independently has perfectly prepared me for what I will be doing in the years to come.

I chose to come to Oxford Royale because I wanted to have a first experience of the subject I wanted to do, and have a first insight into what it's like to study at university. I love the classes and the teachers are great, and I have met some lifelong friends from all over the world.

Getting your child there

Airport

JFK

Pickup service · Most students arrive into New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport, and a supervised transfer through to the Yale campus in New Haven is arranged by Oxford Royale at no extra cost, so your child is met by programme staff and accompanied for the journey rather than finding their own way. The same level of care continues once they are on campus: in the USA students are never permitted to leave the grounds unless a counsellor is with them, and clear sign-in and sign-out procedures apply throughout the fortnight. Flight details are shared with the team in advance through the enrolment portal so arrivals can be matched to the transfer schedule.
