The day has a clear and reassuring shape: Mandarin in the morning, culture in the afternoon. From 9:00 to 11:50 children work in small groups of up to eight, placed both by age band - 9 to 12, 12 to 15, 15 to 17 - and by level as beginner, intermediate or advanced, with a fixed teacher who stays with them for the whole session. After the lunch break the groups widen to around fifteen students for a cultural activity, workshop or local visit, so the language practised in class is immediately put to use in a kitchen, a studio or a metro carriage. Two-week sessions follow themes, Modern Shanghai in week one and Historic Shanghai in week two, which gives the outings and workshops a logic instead of feeling like a string of unrelated afternoons. Families choose between the half-day Academic Chinese Booster for children who want the language work alone, and the full-day Chinese Cultural Adventure that combines lessons with the activity programme. Throughout, teachers and peers from more than thirty countries speak Chinese with the children outside the textbook, which is what makes progress feel quick and natural.

On the full-day Chinese Cultural Adventure the midday break from 12:00 to 13:00 gives children time to eat together and switch off before the afternoon activity, and lunch plus snacks are part of the fee. Families choosing the half-day Academic Chinese Booster get snacks during the morning of Chinese lessons and collect their child at noon for lunch.

The campus

GoEast Kids' Shanghai camp runs at our Zhongshan Park campus (South Building, 988 Dingxi Road, Changning District), a city campus in the heart of Shanghai. It's a day camp, so there are no dorms or open grounds; campers go home to their family or local guardian each evening. On campus are classrooms set up for small-group Mandarin, with no more than 8 students per group, plus Wi-Fi. Each group keeps the same teachers for the whole session. Mornings are class time on campus. On full-day sessions, afternoons move out into the city, with visits like the Oriental Pearl Tower, the Shanghai Natural History Museum or a water town (varies by session). Campers use their Chinese on outings, too. Metro Lines 2, 3 and 4 are all within walking distance, and restaurants, shops and hotels at every price level are close by. First-aid support is on site, with a clear emergency process and medical care nearby.

Taxis and ride-hailing apps can drop off at the campus: South Building, 988 Dingxi Road, Changning District (长宁区定西路988号南楼). Showing the driver the Chinese address is the easiest way. Drop-off is before the 9:00 start; pick-up is at 12:00 for the half-day Academic Chinese Booster and at 16:00 for the full-day Chinese Cultural Adventure. If parents aren't in Shanghai for the whole camp, a local guardian can handle drop-off and pick-up.

Zhongshan Park station, served by Metro Lines 2, 3 and 4, is within walking distance of the campus, so families staying along any of these lines can reach camp without a car. Line 2 also runs to both airports. Restaurants, shops and hotels from budget to high-end are close by. Drop-off is before the 9:00 start; pick-up is at 12:00 for the half-day Academic Chinese Booster and at 16:00 for the full-day Chinese Cultural Adventure.

Shanghai Hongqiao (SHA) mainly serves domestic and regional flights and is much closer to our campus than Pudong. Metro Line 2 runs from Hongqiao Terminal 2 to Zhongshan Park station, within walking distance of the campus.
