A session at Sitio do Carrocao is built around teams and stories rather than a class timetable: campers aged five to sixteen are grouped into four coloured teams whose points are tracked all season on the Gincores panel, and the days alternate between staged adventures, team games and stretches of genuinely free leisure. The rhythm starts with the Cafe da Manha Animado, all singing and choreography, and between one adventure and the next comes the moment when each child chooses for themselves, whether that means the pool, the Medieval Labyrinth, the games room, a football or futgolf match, the canopy trail, clay and beadwork in the arts workshop, or a guitar in the shade of the Arvore da Vida. Monitors pitch each adventure to the age of the group, with more fantasy for the youngest and more challenge for the older ones, so mixed ages share the same world without doing the same thing. Evenings keep their own programme of surprise events, quiz and stage games, the discotheque and occasional night adventures. What makes the programme distinctive is how deliberately it is authored: every activity has a narrative and a purpose drawn from the camp's pedagogical projects, and all of it happens screen-free, inside a property where children never need to leave to find the next discovery.

The whole property has been designed so that adventure comes with the lowest possible risk, and the rules that go with each attraction are taken seriously by a team trained to run them. On site there is an ambulatory with staff prepared for first aid, including a nursing professional who handles the small scrapes and dressings that are part of an active week outdoors, and if anything more is needed transport is arranged to specialist clinics in Tatui, roughly ten minutes away. Water is supervised especially closely: swimming activities follow strict safety rules with children watched by a specialised team, and life jackets are compulsory on every activity that uses boats, so children who cannot yet swim still take part alongside their friends. Because the programme runs on interaction, adventure and hands-on experience, supervision is continuous rather than occasional, with the operational team accompanying groups throughout the day and evening programme.

Meals are served buffet-style in the dining hall, with drinks and desserts included, and the menu is put together by nutritionists so that children are well fed and well hydrated at every stage of a busy day. The kitchen deliberately balances what parents and educators hope for with what children actually enjoy, so plates are tasty and balanced rather than fast food. There is no tuck shop or snack bar anywhere on the property, and that is on purpose: sweets, ice cream and fruit appear as desserts so they don't spoil appetites for the main meals. Breakfast itself becomes part of the fun, with the Cafe da Manha Animado bringing songs and choreography to the start of the day. Children with food restrictions are looked after with meals prepared free of cross-contamination, and families with very specific or religious requirements may send food in sealed containers for the team to keep and serve.

Screen time policy
One of the things families notice most is how little the electronic world features here: children spend their days in adventures, games and water, and the camp is quite open about the fact that the experience happens far away from electronic devices. Because the days are filled with activities that simply do not call for phones or cameras, the camp recommends leaving valuables of that kind at home, and it does not take responsibility for items that are lost or damaged. Anything found on the property is kept for up to thirty days. The result is a screen-free rhythm in which the connections children make are with each other, their team colours and the forest around them.

Children sleep in the camp's pousadas, and there is one detail parents notice straight away: Sitio do Carrocao is the only camp in Brazil that uses no bunk beds at all. Every child has an individual bed with a luggage rack at its foot, so suitcases and belongings stay separate and easy to find. Each pousada has its own internal area with showers and toilets, and for comfort and privacy the shower cabins are individual and fitted with doors. Air conditioning keeps the rooms comfortable and drinking fountains with room-temperature and chilled water are on hand; sockets are 110V. In keeping with the summer-camp tradition rather than hotel service, bed linen, pillows, blankets and towels are brought from home.

The property works as a self-contained world for children: because everything sits inside the complex, from lodging and dining to trails, caves, lagoon and pool, groups never need to travel off site to find the next adventure, which is why the press has called it Brazil's only pedagogical resort. Set in an Atlantic Forest preservation area, its attractions are woven into trails, a river with waterfalls and caves such as the Caverna do Lago Azul with its heated waters. Around them sit the built spaces that give the days their rhythm: a sports gymnasium equipped with buzzers, scoreboards and a big screen, a stage, a games room, an arts workshop, the Banca da Praca for reading, a discotheque for the evenings and the shady Arvore da Vida where children take a guitar and sing. The 518 metres of the Medieval Labyrinth, the 15-metre-high Quatipuru canopy trail, the Baby Zoo with its cable car and the Central Lagoon are all within walking distance of the pousadas. The structure was built so the programme carries on even in heavy weather, and some of the children's favourite activities happen in the rain or in the water anyway. Note that there is deliberately no canteen or snack bar on the grounds.

Families drive in to the camp gate on Rodovia SP-129 at Km 43.5, in the Pederneiras district of Tatui, in the interior of Sao Paulo state; the town of Tatui and its clinics are about ten minutes away by road. Transport from your home city to the camp is not part of the package, so arrival is arranged by the family. Once children are on site nothing else is needed, since the whole programme takes place within the complex.
