Activities

Special focus

Horse riding · Animals & Nature

The programme runs as a single mixed group of children aged 6 to 12, Monday to Friday from 8:30 in the morning until 4:00 in the afternoon, so each day has room for several different pursuits rather than one narrow specialism. Days rotate through the resort's own facilities — riding at the Equestrian Center, court time at the Tennis Club, swimming in the seaside pools and time on the beach — balanced with quieter, hands-on sessions of arts and crafts every day and cooking classes in between. One day each week is set aside for a field trip off the property, which gives every session its own rhythm of build-up and outing. Everything is run in a multilingual setting, with counsellors leading activities in English, Spanish and French, and optional Spanish lessons when at least five children sign up, so language practice happens naturally in the middle of play. Each session closes with a Sunset BBQ on the beach that families are invited to join. The camp has been running for close to twenty years and welcomes both resident and visiting children, which means local friendships and holiday friendships tend to mix.

Safety & Supervision

Gated community with 24-hour security
Limited number of places per session
Modern medical facilities and hospitals with English-speaking doctors nearby

The camp takes place entirely inside Sea Horse Ranch, the first professionally planned gated community on the north coast, where a highly rated but unobtrusive 24-hour security service watches over the 250 acres of grounds. Children move between the Equestrian Center, Tennis Club, pools and beach within that same protected setting, which the resort describes as a safe, fun recreational environment for children to explore, play and learn. Places are deliberately limited each session, and registration goes through the Equestrian Center directly by phone or WhatsApp. The surrounding area also has several modern medical facilities and hospitals with English-speaking doctors, a reassurance for visiting families.

snacks

Fresh juice and snacks throughout the day to keep energy up between activities.

Food is part of the rhythm of the day rather than an afterthought: children arrive to a healthy breakfast, gather for a hearty hot lunch in the middle of the day, and are kept going between riding, tennis and the pool with fresh juice and snacks. Each session then closes with a Sunset BBQ on the beach, where families are invited to join the campers.

The campus

250 acresGated oceanfront resort community in Cabarete on the North Coast of the Dominican Republic

Camp unfolds across the lush 250 acres of Sea Horse Ranch, a gated community set on the coast just east of Sosúa and Cabarete. Children ride at a fully-staffed Equestrian Center with its own jumping ring and miles of trails, play on the Tennis Club's five clay courts that are lit for evening use, cool off in the seaside pools and spend time at the resort's beaches, with the oceanfront Beach Club restaurant nearby for the closing Sunset BBQ. The grounds also include the Villa Orgánica garden, and management and concierge offices are staffed on the premises.

Getting your child there

By car

Drive to Sea Horse Ranch

The entrance to Sea Horse Ranch sits directly on the main coastal highway, Route 5 (Carretera Principal), just east of Puerto Plata and Sosúa. Families drive in through the gated entry and drop children at the Equestrian Center, which runs the camp; the camp day starts at 8:30 AM and finishes at 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday. The Equestrian Center can be reached beforehand on (809) 571-4462 or WhatsApp +1 (809) 467-4396 to confirm arrangements. · Sea Horse Ranch, 57000 Sosúa, Dominican Republic

Airport

Gregorio Luperón International Airport, Puerto Plata

The closest gateway, twenty minutes' drive west of the resort along the coastal highway; the international airport at Puerto Plata is the arrival point most families use. No camp shuttle is published, so plan on a rental car or taxi to the Route 5 entrance and let the Equestrian Center know your arrival timing when you register.

Airport

Cibao International Airport, Santiago

Santiago's airport lies an hour and a half inland from Sea Horse Ranch, crossing the mountains to the north coast. It is a practical alternative when Puerto Plata schedules do not fit; arrange your own car or driver for the transfer, as the camp does not list a pickup service.

Airport

Samaná El Catey International Airport

El Catey on the Samaná peninsula is roughly an hour and a half by road from the resort. Families flying in here should budget for a private transfer or rental car to reach the Route 5 entrance, since no camp transport is offered from this airport.

Airport

Las Américas International Airport, Santo Domingo

The capital's main airport is about three and a half hours' drive south of Sea Horse Ranch, so it suits families combining camp with time in Santo Domingo. A rental car or pre-booked driver is needed for the crossing to the north coast; the camp itself does not organise the transfer.
