Overview
The Peddie School in a summer boarding school experience for rising 6th–9th graders. Returning to Peddie July 13–26, 2025. At The Peddie School, we celebrate the unique, the innovative, and the courageous. We encourage our students to ask big questions and work together to find the answers. We give our students opportunities to seek out new frontiers and exciting challenges, and we cheer for them every step of the way. The Peddie Summer Academy delivers the academic rigor and supportive community of The Peddie School as a summer boarding school experience for rising 6th–9th graders. During our two-week program, students of the Peddie Summer Academy will attend classes designed and taught by Peddie faculty, live in Peddie's dormitories, eat meals together in Peddie's dining hall, and receive guidance from current Peddie students. Parents and young students are looking for the right kind of balance between support and challenge, fun and rigor, excitement and engagement. The Peddie Summer Academy gives them the opportunity to see what a residential school experience can be like - the growth and learning that happens both in and out of the traditional classroom.

Activities
Each day, the students will go to breakfast together to start the morning. Some of our kids, who have special interests in swimming or music, for instance, used pre-breakfast time to train and work on their talents. The PSA staff made arrangements for training with our aquatics program or practicing in our private music rooms. The morning is filled with classes – architecture, STEM, forensic science, and creative writing. The choices are extensive. A Mid-morning snack breaks up the time between lunch and dinner. Lunch is next and just like all meals it is taken together in the Caspersen Campus Center where our Peddie Food Services staff feeds a lot of kids and adults with healthy and hearty meals every month of the year. The PFS crew is with us all year. They know how to meet the needs of all our kids and the special diets – vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and so on – that some kids may need or choose. After lunch, the afternoon is filled with community-building activities led by our prefects – our current Peddie student counselors – under the guidance of our faculty. Not unlike our school year, these student leaders are wonderful young people of great character who love the school and look to mentor our newest charges. The afternoon continues with some rest/free time and finishes with healthy activities and games on our athletic fields or in our gym. After dinner, study time and time to work in groups on projects were intermingled with movie nights, talent shows, and trips off campus to nearby Princeton, New Jersey, or area attractions. On the weekends, beach days and trips to Philadelphia or New York are taken. The two weeks move quickly and the days are very full. It always amazes our faculty how quickly the bonds of friendship are built.
Academics
The Peddie classroom centers around creativity, collaboration and innovation. At the Peddie Summer Academy, we cultivate that same authentic, interactive, rigorous academic environment for our younger students. All classes are designed and taught by the passionate, experienced educators of Peddie’s faculty. Students will enroll in three electives: one STEM elective, one humanities elective and one art elective. Examples of the course offerings can be found on the website.
Language lessons
The Peddie Summer Academy does not offer language courses.
Accommodation & facilities
The Peddie Summer Academy is housed in the newest dormitories on the campus around the Armellino Quad. Each of the dormitory spaces is fully air-conditioned with rooms meant to be home to 2 students - complete with two beds, two desks, two sets of drawers, and two closets. There are fully stocked common area lobbies with entertainment options and kitchenette areas. Each floor and hallway in each dorm has its own bathroom with private showers and stalls. Each of the dorms is equipped with electronic lock access that is active all day. Armellino Quad also boasts the Longstreet Library building, the oldest building on campus. It is fully renovated and air-conditioned with a large open space for large or small group meetings. The quad is a great place for outdoor activities and is fully dedicated to the Academy during the two weeks. The program will enjoy games, barbecues, free time, and outdoor programs in community building and journaling. The Academy's home base - The Quad - is only steps away from the academic, arts, and campus center buildings, and a short walk to the athletic facilities.
