Activities

Special focus

Multi-activity · Sports & Outdoor

Camp at Malvern College is booked in Monday to Friday weekly blocks, and children spend that whole week with the same group and the same leaders, which is why so many arrive on Tuesday already looking for the friends they made on day one. Groups are formed by age - Magic for five to seven year olds and Active for eight to twelve year olds, sometimes split further into single-year groups - and each child has a key worker who walks them through how the day works and keeps them company as they settle. The days move between sports and team games, arts and crafts, creative STEAM projects and the British-themed activities Camp Beaumont is known for, so a child who arrives shy about one thing usually finds something else to shine at before lunch. Everything runs on the school's own secure facilities and is screen-free by design, with staff working from a training programme developed with In2Action specialists. The aim across the week is quietly practical: more confidence, easier social skills and a bit more independence than the child walked in with.

Safety & Supervision

Magic (ages 5-7) staff to child ratio1:12
Active (ages 8-12) staff to child ratio1:15
Background-checked staff
First aiders on site
Medication stored in the first aid area and administered per Medical Administration Form
Age-based groups bubbled to a maximum of 15 children
Assigned key worker / Group Leader for each child
Individual support plans agreed with parents

Children are grouped by age and stay with the same group and the same familiar faces for the whole week, so a five-year-old is never swept along with older campers. Each child is assigned a key worker in the form of a Group Leader or Head Group Leader who explains how the day will run, shows them around the campus and keeps an eye on how they are settling in. Groups are kept in bubbles of up to fifteen children, with a maximum of twenty-four per group, and the staff-to-group ratio is increased where an activity calls for it. All staff are background checked and trained on a programme developed with In2Action specialists, and first aiders on site look after any medication, which is stored in the first aid area and given at the times set out on the Medical Administration Form parents complete. Children who need extra support are welcomed through an individual plan agreed with the family before camp and reviewed while they attend, and at collection time parents can talk directly with the team about how the day went.

About World Camps Trust

Meals

lunch

Provided during the summer camps; dietary restrictions and allergies are catered for when notified in advance.

During the summer camps lunch is provided, so there is no packed lunch to prepare on busy holiday mornings. Malvern College is run as a nut-aware camp, which means no food containing nuts may be brought in, and the team asks parents to flag any dietary restrictions or food allergies when booking so suitable alternatives can be prepared. For camps in other holiday periods the office confirms in advance whether lunch is included.

Screen time policy

Days at camp are deliberately screen-free so that children are drawn into the activities and into each other's company rather than into a device. Smartphones and smart watches with cameras are not permitted, and if a child does need to carry a phone or watch it stays in their bag for the whole day and remains their own responsibility. Parents who need news during the day are encouraged to speak to the team at collection, or to contact the camp directly using the numbers sent out the week before camp starts.
