Typically open in June — 2027 dates coming soon

KSSS runs this residential sailing camp in Sandhamn, Sweden. The camp welcomes children aged 9–14, with adventure and water activities on the programme. Typically open June to August — new dates coming soon.
The Royal Swedish Yacht Club (KSSS) runs this overnight sailing camp on the island of Lökholmen, next to Sandhamn in the Stockholm archipelago. Around 450 children attend each summer across seven sessions of six to nine days, split into age groups 9–11 and 12–14. Campers sail daily in Optimists, RS Quests, Lasers and larger keelboats, mixing structured instruction with island camp life from the end of the school year in June until school starts again in August.

Lökholmen is a classic Swedish sailing camp with a simple rhythm: whole days out on the water in the archipelago, then evenings of games and themed activities on the island, repeated across an intensive and very sociable week. Children are grouped by age and by the boat they are sailing, and over the camp they get time in several different classes — RS Quest, Laser, C55, Optimist and IF-boats — rather than being fixed to one hull all week. The younger group, for children turning 9 to 11, sails six-day camps, while 12 to 14-year-olds take on longer eight- and nine-day camps with more demanding sailing and challenges. Beyond that sits a dedicated instructor camp for older teenagers born in 2010 or earlier, where they try every boat type, drive motorboats, help in the kitchen and see camp life from the leader's side. Because the club runs the camps as part of its year-round sailing activity, places are highly sought after and members can register their interest each autumn.
Other included activities
Your child sails and lives on a small archipelago island, so the club is explicit that experienced instructors and clear safety routines sit behind every day on the water. The sailing groups are led by KSSS instructors who know these waters, and the club runs its own instructor pathway so that the young leaders on the island have grown up through the same camps. Practical preparation is part of the safety culture too: families are given a dedicated packing list for the sailing camp, and separate pages set out the rules, membership and cancellation terms before arrival. Within KSSS's wider on-water activities, buoyancy aids are treated as non-negotiable for the younger children.
Campers live right on Lökholmen for the whole week, sleeping in simple cabins a short walk from the jetties where the boats are rigged each morning. Sharing a cabin with new friends is a large part of why so many children describe the week as the high point of their summer, since the day does not end when the sails come down: evenings roll straight on into games and activities on the island. The setting is deliberately unfussy island living in the Stockholm archipelago rather than hotel comfort, with the water always a few steps away.
Lökholmen is the heart of KSSS's summer activity, a small island by Sandhamn in the outer Stockholm archipelago that becomes a self-contained sailing village for the duration of each camp. Cabins, the camp kitchen and the jetties sit within a few minutes of each other, so children move easily between rigging boats, swimming off the rocks and playing on the island. The island also serves as a KSSS guest harbour, which means proper pontoons and shelter for the fleet of RS Quest, Laser, C55, Optimist dinghies and IF-boats used during the week.
