Set in a quiet Cantabrian valley a short drive from the beaches of the Costa Esmeralda, this residential camp brings together twelve to seventeen year olds for around eleven days of surfing, outdoor activity and language practice in the north of Spain. The heart of the stay is a six-day beginners' surf course run by a professional surf school, with the group travelling by bus each day to whichever beach is offering the best conditions. Around it sits a full programme of boat trips, caving, adventure parks with zip wires and climbing, walks through the Aras valley and visits to the coastal villages, while opt-in English or Spanish sessions are woven into games, music and everyday life rather than taught in a classroom. Participants sleep in the S. M. de Aras hostel in bunk-bed dormitories of six or eight, share home-cooked meals prepared on site and are supervised day and night by a team of monitors and specialist instructors. Run by education and sport professionals, the camp is built around a simple aim: that teenagers enjoy themselves while picking up useful skills, independence and the habits of living well together.

The stay is built around two anchors, surf and language, with everything else arranged in between. Sessions run for around nine to ten nights, with three intakes across July and early August, and the six-day beginners' surf course sets the shape of the mornings: the whole group boards the bus and heads for whichever beach has the best conditions that day. Afternoons and evenings rotate through the rest of the programme — boat trips, caving, the adventure park, digital design and T-shirt screen printing, treks in the valley and the group's own cabin-disco — so no two days repeat. Language work is not timetabled as lessons but threaded through games, music and daily life for those who opt in, while a handful of extras such as horse riding or kayaking can be added at registration. Participants are all of similar age, which the team sees as one of the reasons the group settles quickly, and the guiding line, in their own words, is respect and tolerance.

Safety & Supervision
Safety is treated as the first condition of the stay: participants are supervised day and night by a team of monitors, with specialist instructors taking charge of the activities that need them, including surf, climbing and the zip wires. The premises meet the regulations in force for hosting groups of young people and the camp carries the compulsory insurance for its activities. Families receive a code of conduct that participants are expected to follow throughout the course, together with a kit list, when they register, and dormitories are organised by age and gender.

Meals are cooked on site in the hostel kitchen and the camp is proud of keeping them homemade and generous: four meals a day, planned to be healthy and balanced so that teenagers have the energy for a morning in the water and an afternoon outdoors. Between meals there is always fruit and yoghurt within reach, and the kitchen adapts to individual diets when families let them know in advance.
Screen time policy
Devices are permitted during free time only. No phones during training, meals, or evening group activities. Wi-Fi is available in common areas. We believe in digital boundaries that support full immersion in the camp experience.
Accommodation & campus
Where your child sleeps
Participants stay at the S. M. de Aras tourist hostel, a house set in a Cantabrian valley that can sleep up to seventy-two people and is well used to hosting groups of young people. There are twelve shared dormitories with bunk beds, each sleeping six or eight, with bathrooms shared and separate for girls and boys. Rooms are allocated by age and gender, and the team takes friendship requests into account when putting groups together.
The camp is based at a hostel in a completely natural setting with no towns nearby, which is exactly what allows the programme to make full use of the valley and the mountains around it. The nearest city is Laredo, one of the best-known tourist towns of northern Spain, whose medieval quarter was declared a Monumental Site of Historic and Artistic Interest in 1970 and whose palaces, towers, churches and stretches of city wall still recall the 13th and 14th centuries. Several beaches are within easy reach by bus, and back at the house the group has its own cabin fitted out as a rural disco for evenings together.

Pickup service · Return transfers from Santander airport are included in the camp price and are accompanied by staff from arrival through to the hostel. They run only on the published start and finish dates of each session, so travel must be planned around those days. Families need to send the flight number, arrival time and mobile contact numbers well in advance so the correct accompanied pick-up and drop-off can be arranged.
Bilbao Airport
Pickup service · Return transfers from Bilbao airport are also included in the price, with staff meeting participants on arrival and accompanying them to the camp. As with Santander, the transfer operates only on the stated start and finish dates of the session. Flight details, arrival time and mobile contact numbers must be provided in good time so the pick-up and drop-off can be confirmed.
Santander main train and bus station
Pickup service · Participants arriving by rail or coach into Santander are collected from the city's main station, with the return transfer included in the price and operating only on the official arrival and departure days. Journey details and mobile contact numbers should be sent to the camp ahead of time so an accompanied pick-up can be organised.
Bilbao main train and bus station
Pickup service · Transfers are likewise included from Bilbao's main train and bus station, again only on the stated start and finish dates of the camp. Families must supply the arrival time and contact numbers in advance so a member of staff can meet the participant and accompany them to the hostel and back.
Coach from Madrid
A return coach runs from Madrid to the camp and back, included in the price, with additional pick-up points along the route at Aranda de Duero, Burgos, Miranda de Ebro and Bilbao that can be requested. Places on the coach are limited, so the seat and the chosen stop need to be confirmed at the time of registration.
