Camp Wingate*Kirkland's day camp gives children ages 4 to 12 the full rhythm of Cape Cod camp life while still sleeping in their own beds at night. Campers are placed in "Lodges" according to the grade they have just finished, from Pre-K through 6th grade, so that friendships and instruction match where each child is developmentally. Every day includes swim instruction in Elisha's Pond, a freshwater kettle pond, alongside arts and crafts, sports, nature, music and performing arts, with children in 1st grade and up choosing their own activities through the camp's Daily Choice program. Lunch, snacks and admission to trips out of camp are all part of the fee, so families are not asked for extras once the summer begins. Days run Monday to Friday from 8:30 AM, finishing at 4:00 PM for the youngest lodges and 5:00 PM for the older ones, and families build their own schedule with a minimum of two weeks that need not be consecutive.
