Residential camp in Yarmouth, United States
Camp Wingate*Kirkland is an all-gender overnight camp on Cape Cod, Massachusetts, where children aged 7 to 16 spend their summer swimming, sailing, performing and discovering what they are capable of. What makes a stay here distinctive is the Daily Choice program: rather than following a fixed timetable, campers pick the activities that excite them most each day, from tennis and pottery to zany camp inventions like Zombie Hunters and Intense Sandcastle Building. Days are spent outdoors and screen-free, with swimming in Elisha's Pond, camp-wide events such as Campchella, Carnival and Color Wars, and an off-site Challenge Program that nudges older campers gently beyond their comfort zone. The camp's six core values of safety, choice, transformation, accountability, resilience and joy shape everything, including small responsibilities like the bunk job chart and dining hall duty that build healthy independence. Many counselors are former campers who come back to the place that shaped them, which gives the community a warm, familiar feel that families say their children carry home with them.
