Residential camp in Monmouth, United States
Camp Kippewa is an all-girls overnight camp set in the Maine woods on the shores of Lake Cobbosseecontee, welcoming campers since 1957 for a traditional half-season stay of three and a half weeks. What makes it distinctive is choice: each camper builds her own weekly schedule from a wide array of activities. Days are spent outdoors and unplugged, with 3 counselors living alongside 10 campers in bunks grouped by grade leve. Evenings bring campfires, all-camp games and the sound of loons across the lake. The community is deliberately warm and accepting, built around girls looking out for one another, trying things they have never tried, and growing more independent week by week. Maine traditions run through the summer too, from campouts on the camp's own island to the annual Lobster Bake.
