from $4,295

Camp Green Cove runs this residential adventure camp in Zirconia, United States. The camp welcomes children aged 7–15, with sports, arts & crafts, and water activities on the programme. Typically open June to August — new dates coming soon. Sessions last 1–5 weeks. Activities run in English.
Located in the Mountains of Western North Carolina for 80 years, we emphasize outdoor activities such as horseback riding, hiking, kayaking, canoeing, sailing, mountain biking, and rock climbing. We believe in fun, adventure, safety, and great instruction. Our program is non-competitive, which encourages experimentation, and non-regimented, which fosters self-direction. Our strengths lie in the quality of our staff and the depth of our program. We value diversity, attracting campers from all 50 states and several other countries. Our goal is to build self-esteem while teaching community living skills, respect for the environment and a love for the outdoors.

Girls sleep away camp with waterfront sports, overnight trips, hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing, and the usual arts and crafts and stuff like that. It’s a very caring environment that fosters independence, through choice, goal setting and skills development. We are very happy with the experiences our cold has had there this summer.

I attended this camp for 4 years from age 10 to 14. I’m now 24 and I can say without a doubt this camp was the best thing I ever did during my adolescence. The values, life skills, and confidence I gained are priceless. When I have my own children one day they will 100% be attending Green Cove/ Mondamin! Cannot put my admiration for this place in words- such a special place in my heart forever.

Green Cove has consistently held a grade “A” rating from the North Carolina State Board of Health. We have an infirmary on camp premises with two registered nurses in residence; a doctor in residence serves both Green Cove and our brother camp, Mondamin. There is a hospital six miles away. Regular health checks are made daily (showers, brushed teeth, etc.); parents receive weekly letters from counselors and a telephone call in case of any unusual problems. When it comes to safety, we are conservative and take extra precautions. Always no more than 6 children to 1 Lifeguard in the water (Red Cross certified); no more than 6:1 ratio campers to staff on trips; Harnesses, helmets, and ropes/knots always triple checked by staff at the climbing tower; Helmets worn at all times when climbing, biking, and riding horses; conservative choices made when it comes to risk (ex. level of climb or river for the skill of the campers). All trips have a checked out Designated Trip Leader who is over the age of 21, Wilderness First Responder Certified, and has been through our rigorous "check out" process.

Where your child sleeps
Camp Green Cove is rustic. We have 600 acres of woods and trails to use for hiking, riding, biking, and camping. We are on a large mountain lake which we love to swim and boat in. Cabins have concrete floors, screened windows, and bunk beds. No A/C but living in the mountains, it is not too hot. Bathrooms are adjoining the cabins and have toilets, sinks, and showers. We have a large Equestrian facility with 40 horses, 4 riding rings, and miles of trails. Our large dining hall seats 275. We have canoe docks, swimming docks, and sailing docks. We have a Bike Shed, a climbing wall, tennis courts, Arts and Crafts rooms, and a Nature Center.
