Residential English camp in Morzine → Ardèche → Atlantic coast, France
Active Travel Camps (ATC) is an international residential summer camp for 11–18 year olds: a three-week adventure tour through some of France's most spectacular outdoor destinations, with a new base and a new landscape each week. Week 1 — Mountain. The tour starts at the camp's Alpine base in Morzine: white-water rafting, mountain biking, zip-lining through the rocky outcrops and kayaking on Lac de Montriond. Week 2 — River. The group travels south to the Ardèche to descend the river by canoe, with gorge hiking, treetop high ropes, a prehistoric cave visit, river swims and market trips along the way. Week 3 — Sea. The final week moves west to the white-sand beaches of the Atlantic coast for catamaran sailing, paddle boarding, canyoning and windsurfing. All meals and transfers between sites are included, along with a weekly laundry service. Campers can join for one, two or all three weeks.

One itinerary, three landscapes: ATC is built around outdoor adventure sports, moving from Alpine rafting and mountain biking to an Ardèche canoe descent to sailing and surf sports on the Atlantic. Activities are led at each base with the same group of campers travelling together, so the trip doubles as a three-week friendship tour of France.

Our daughter had an incredible time at this summer camp. She is quite a shy girl, so it was lovely to see her return home with lots of new friends from all over the world. We couldn't quite believe the amount of activities they managed to cram into three weeks - she's now a sailor, a kayaker, a mountaineer... Thanks so much.

The camp is run on a full-board basis, with all meals included in the price. On activity days meals include breakfast and an evening meal at the centre plus picnic lunches out on activities, and the team cooks a barbecue at the overnight gorge camp during the river week.

ATC considers a good night’s rest essential to a full day of adventure, and puts real care into its accommodation at each of the three bases. Campers stay with their group and leaders at every stop, with all bedding provided and transfers between sites included.
