Operating since 1951, Acampamento Terra do Sol is one of Brazil's oldest holiday camps, located in Monte Alegre do Sul in São Paulo state with organised departures from the city of São Paulo. It hosts children and teenagers aged 6–17 for residential sessions during the Brazilian summer holidays in December–January. The camp is a member of ABAE, the Brazilian association of educational camps.

Terra do Sol runs in seasons of seven days, and within each one the programme is shaped by age: the youngest campers follow a special schedule with specialised supervision and playful activities suited to them, while teenagers have a recreational programme refined over the years to include them and support the social development that matters in adolescence. Days flow from field and indoor games into workshops and on to evening activities around the campfire, all steered by the recreational coordination of Tio Manolo, whose thirty-plus years as a recreation leader set the tone. Each season also carries the colour of its time of year, and in summer that means crazy sports, competitive matches and sustainability workshops. What holds it all together is a deliberate psycho-pedagogical intent: activities are designed with educators so that children practise responsibility towards their environment and learn to deal with frustration while they play. Because monitors are themselves former campers, the programme is passed on from one generation to the next along with the camp's values, which is why so many families return season after season.

Care at Terra do Sol rests on people who know the place well: the monitors are themselves former campers, and the recreational side is coordinated by Tio Manolo, with more than thirty years of experience as a recreation leader. Tia Gabi selects the monitors and oversees the infirmary and the day-to-day care of every camper, while Tio Toninho takes responsibility for general supervision of the site, its structure and its safety. Dormitories are watched around the clock and split by gender and age group, and the team is trained to keep an eye on physical safety as much as on sorting out the small conflicts that come with group living. During each season an infirmary is stocked with first-aid materials and staffed by a professional on duty 24 hours, backed by a partnership with a hospital only minutes from the camp; if anything happens, parents are told straight away.

The daily rhythm includes five meals in total, so snack breaks sit between the main meals.
Meals are a real part of the day here: five servings a day come out of a kitchen whose team has been with the camp for more than fifteen years, generous and varied plates cooked to suit the tastes of children and teenagers. Families who need something different let the camp know at enrolment, and the kitchen prepares vegetarian, gluten-free and lactose-free menus, all agreed in advance between the camp and the family.

Dormitories
Campers sleep in dormitories that are separated by gender and by age group and supervised right through the night, so younger children share their room with others at the same stage. Families are asked to send a blanket or a sleeping bag along with personal toiletries. On some seasons the night moves outdoors instead, with boys and girls in separate tents around a campfire when the weather and the group's energy allow.

The camp sits on a green sítio in Monte Alegre do Sul, a countryside property away from the city where children spend their days outdoors on the pitches, on the trails and around the campfire. Alongside the dormitories and the dining hall there is an infirmary for the season's nursing cover, sheltered space for indoor games such as table tennis and foosball when the group comes inside, and an area set aside for tents and campfire nights.
