Welcome to Pyrene Summer Camp

Overview

The unique summer camp where we grow and learn together. Camping in the middle of the woods, watching lightning illuminate the night sky, feeling the rain on our faces and the strength of the wind on top of mountain peaks. We walk with nature searching for simplicity, the most intimate and wild reality.

The Pyrene Summer Camp started in 2010, merging the philosophies of volunteer camps, non-formal education and summer camps. With 5 different camps to choose, we offer:

  • JUNIOR ADVENTURE (for boys and girls from 10 to 13 years old) - WILD ADVENTURE (for teenagers from 14 to 17 years old)
  • BEGINNER'S HORSE RIDING (from 10 to 13 years old) - ADVANCED HORSE RIDING (from 14 to 17 years old)
  • BIKE JUNIOR (from 10 to 13 years old) - BIG BIKE (from 14 to 17 years old)
  • PYRENE EXPLORER (from 16 to 18 years old) - BIG TREKKING (from 16 to 18 years old) - JUNIOR TREKKING (from 13 to 15 years old)
  • MINAIRONS (from 7 to 9 years old)

Starting the last week of June, and finishing the last week of July, Pyrene Summer Camp offers you 5 weekly shifts. Campers can stay 1 week, 2, 3 or 4 weeks at the camp, doing every week a different specialty. We offer a rental service for any stuff you can't carry or do not own, like a mountain jacket, sleeping bag, backpack or mountain bike, to make it easier for those who come from abroad. Let's discover the Pyrenees together and make new friends from all over the world!

Accommodation

The Sustainable Pyrene Campsite is located at the base of the Aransa Cross Country Resort. It’s found in the pleasant El Fornell plain, 1.900m above sea level. The camp is surrounded by mountain pine forest and deep blue lakes, with 3.000m high mountain peaks touching the clouds. The base lies at the foot of the Tossa Plana de Lles massif, with marvellous views of Cadí, Tossa d’Alp, Puigmal and the Cerdanya Valley.

The camp is 30 minutes (18 km) away from Martinet de Cerdanya by car and can be reached from Arànser via a well maintained paved road. Although easily accessible, the base camp is in a wild and unspoilt corner of the Cerdanya Valley. All 6 camps are located at the campsite. It’s a place where you can meet up with friends, share experiences and take on fun challenges.

We are settled at the Refuge El Fornell: our facilities include a large dining area for when it’s rainy or cold, a professional kitchen, storage areas and toilets.

We have breakfast, lunch and dinner outside if the weather permits. Next to the Refuge El Fornell we have tables and benches protected from the sun with a gazebo. The gazebo also has lights for nighttime seating. Twenty metres away we have four 25 person tents where we sleep in bunk beds. Clothes are stored in individual boxes, while suitcases, bikes, helmets and saddles are stored in the storage areas. The tents are illuminated with solar energy. Also solar powered are our 6 hot water showers. It’s incredible to have a shower in the middle of the woods! The campsite is protected from cows, horses and deer by a wooden fence.
