概要
Runoia is one of the oldest girls camps in America, and has balanced traditional camp programming with progressive values for nearly 120 years. Our community is low-drama and not competitive, instead, girls come to Runoia to build lifelong skills and develop lifelong friendships. Community-living is key at Runoia, and girls get to connect with all campers and staff throughout camp. Runoia's leadership team is hands-on and gets to know each individual camper and their parents. We have roughly 1 staff member for every 2 campers, so no camper "falls through the cracks." Our most popular activities include Sailing, Archery, Horseback Riding, Water Skiing, and a variety of creative arts.

At Runoia, campers make their own 4-period schedules from 30+ activity choices in 2-day and 3-day blocks each week. Runoia’s choice-based structure allows campers to explore their interests, change their mind throughout the session, and focus on skill-building in their favorite activities. Runoia sits on the shores of Great Pond in Maine. Our beautiful campus has been well-maintained, with a mix of historic buildings and new additions. From Ski Boats, to the climbing tower, to our brand new horseback riding arena, to our farm & garden, there are high-quality facilities for every camper and every activity.

Q&A
A non-refundable, non-transferable $2,000 deposit is due upon submission of your application in order to hold your space. The balance of tuition & fees is due in two installments: February 1st and April 1st. When you enroll, you will enter your credit card or ACH (eCheck) information to pay your deposit. We will send out a reminder in advance of the payment dates for tuition. If you cannot pay by Credit Card or ACH (eCheck), please contact office@runoia.com. In case of camper cancellation before April 1st, you will be reimbursed tuition less the $2,000 non-refundable deposit. For cancellations received after April 1st, tuition will be non-refundable. A change of session after enrollment incurs a $500 fee.
Our Camp Director has 30 years of experience at Camp Runoia and is supported by a dedicated full-time leadership team of camp professionals. That team grows in the summer and includes teachers and other adults who oversee all aspects of camp life and programming. In addition to the ability to contact the Runoia Directors throughout the summer, parents will also have access to a Head of Cabin (HOC) who supervises a smaller group of campers.
All staff are required to have skills and experience relevant to their role. All new staff must provide three references and go through multiple background checks, in addition to our thorough interview process. Prior to camp, we spend nearly two weeks training our staff on safety and all aspects of working with children. Roughly 50% of our staff return each year and continue to develop their skills and leaders and mentors.

Staff receive written feedback twice throughout the summer to ensure they are reaching their full potential.
Inclusion is one of our core values at Camp Runoia. We work closely with our Diversity Advisory Committee (made up of staff, alumni and parents) to make Runoia more inclusive each year. We bring in outside speakers to train our staff on how to create an inclusive environment. We have a zero tolerance policy for hate and bias. You can learn much more about their work on our website. The Camp Runoia Alumni Organization provides scholarship dollars for campers who might not otherwise be able to afford camp.

Campers do not have access to technology while they’re at camp. They may be anxious about it at first, but by the end of their time at camp, they are so grateful for the experience.
Our daughters and now our granddaughters have spent many summers at Camp Runoia! We all love it! It is creative, fun, skill-building, friendly option for girls. I wish I could go!
For the 5th consecutive summer, my daughter has been happily attending Runoia, a place that holds a special spot in her heart. Here, she finds herself immersed in nature, trying out new sports, exploring a diverse array of activities, and forming deep connections with fellow girls who have become her closest friends. Safety is a top priority for the Runoia leadership, and they hold their staff to high standards. Situated on the picturesque shore of a beautiful lake, the location couldn’t be more idyllic. We are immensely grateful to the entire Runoia team for creating such a special place. Our daughter always returns as her best self, and always grows an inch or two while there!
Camp Runoia is a wonderful place. Our daughter has been attending for three weeks each summer for the past three summers. She always seems so happy and confident when comes home!
