Accommodation

Campus Life - Facilities

Delphian has nine dormitories—five boys' dorms and four girls' dorms. Each dormitory is a community within itself.

On any given evening, Delphian dorms pulse with activity—students may be found reading an assignment for the next day’s literature seminar, planning an activity for the weekend or just hanging out with friends.

Each dormitory is a working team, organized to keep the space clean and make it a place the students enjoy living in and can be proud of.

Resident staff live in end units of each dorm, helping to provide a friendly, homelike environment for the students. There are daily staff check-ins in each dorm before bedtime and younger students are visited by their personal teacher each night.

Through our student leadership program student council members work as dorm and bathroom resident assistants under the guidance of the director of campus life, helping to build a warm community in each dorm and to help students learn to live and work well together.

Most rooms are designed for double occupancy, with access to shared bathrooms and laundry facilities. All of Delphian's dormitories are in the wings of the main building with the exception of Dragon Hall, an exterior girls' dormitory and community-use lounge and kitchen facility.

Dorm room furnishings include single beds (often bunked), dressers, desks, chairs, shelves and wardrobe space.

The opportunities to create and learn are varied and exciting! Learn about animation, boat building, ceramics, theater arts, archery, fine art and more.

Students choose several afternoon classes or one camp to participate in each week. They can try something new or explore their interests, all while having a great time. There is something for everyone, whether you are interested in trying out a new activity or exploring an interest you already have. And for those who want to go the extra mile, there are several camps offered in different subjects for students to dive into.

Students can learn how animation works, build a boat and see if it floats on the campus pond, develop their acting skills on teh stage, or learn how to create beautiful pottery in ceramics. The opportunities to create are endless and exciting!

Language Lessons

ACTION ENGLISH

Since 1980, thousands of international students have attended Summer at Delphian where intensive English instruction is offered in beginning, intermediate and advanced English classes.

When learning a new language, there is nothing more boring than a textbook. The purpose of language learning includes connecting with others, making new friends and exchanging ideas. This is best done out of the classroom and immersed in the action of communication in the science lab, on the playing field, in the art room, hiking in the hills, building a raft, etc. All these activities have a “living” vocabulary.
Let’s live a little; let’s live a lot. Action English is the key to really being READY to communicate.
