The programme runs in two-week courses that pair 30 hours of English language tuition with an afternoon academy the student chooses in advance. Mornings are for lessons in small classes of no more than sixteen, taught by EngXcel teachers working to British Council standards, and afternoons belong to the chosen specialism: Film Making, Intensive English, Creative Arts, Performing Arts, Football or Tennis. Students pick one option for each week, so they can go deep into a single interest for a fortnight or try two different worlds, and because groups stay together for the week the work builds towards something finished rather than one-off tasters. Evenings bring organised events and mixed-nationality team competitions, with five excursions across the two weeks taking the group out to Reading and to cities such as London and Oxford. With around eighty students per course drawn from twenty nationalities, classes and activity groups are deliberately mixed so English becomes the language students actually use to make friends. Staff live on campus and accompany students through lessons, activities and trips, which gives the day a settled, well-signposted rhythm.

The camp follows strong safeguarding procedures and has trained staff available 24 hours a day. All staff receive First Aid training, and students have quick access to local medical care, including the Royal Berkshire Hospital just 5 minutes away. Health, wellbeing and safety are central to the school’s award-winning pastoral care.
Meals
Three meals a day are part of the all-inclusive fee, so students eat together on campus from breakfast through to the evening meal with no extras to budget for. A tuck shop operates alongside, where students can buy snacks and refreshments with their own pocket money if they wish. Dietary and medical needs are collected on the registration form before arrival, with vegetarian and halal among the requirements the school is used to accommodating, and the information is shared with the pastoral care and management team.

Screen time policy
Students are welcome to bring mobile phones, but usage is sensibly managed to help them stay focused, safe and socially engaged. Phones may be used freely during designated free-time periods—such as before breakfast, in the boarding houses, and after evening activities—but not during lessons, afternoon sessions, excursions (except for photos), or organised evening events. Staff remind students if usage becomes distracting, and in rare cases may hold a phone temporarily to support positive behaviour. WiFi is available campus-wide, and parents are encouraged to contact their child during suitable free-time hours, with staff always available for urgent communication.

Arriving by car
Families driving to campus come to Leighton Park School, Shinfield Road, Reading RG2 7DE, on the edge of Reading and around 25 minutes from London by train. The easiest windows are 2pm to 4pm for arrival day and 9am to 11am for departures; if those times do not work, the office will arrange for someone to be available at your expected time. Pickup service · Gatwick is the second airport served by the included return transfer, again only for arrivals and departures on the Tuesday transfer day, with staff meeting students in arrivals and seeing them through to check-in on the way home. As with Heathrow, the transfer must be requested and flight details sent at least four weeks ahead for it to be confirmed. Any other airport, station or address can be covered but requires a supplement, quoted once you send your travel plans before booking. Parents cannot travel in the standard taxis, and an airport chaperone for children on an airline Unaccompanied Minor Service is available for a £95 supplement.
