Oksnøen is run by the Simonsen family on their own island in the lake Vansjø, with Eivind Simonsen as owner, Bengt Simonsen as managing director, Eva Sophie Simonsen as operations manager and Sander Simonsen as camp leader. Alongside the summer camp, which hosts between 1500 and 2000 children aged 8 to 16 each season, the family also operates a leirskole (school camp) programme and events for children and adults, and staff are recruited and trained each year for the summer.
