Harrow School offers medical care in the form of on-site nurses and trained first aiders. We also have comprehensive health and safety procedures in place across the School.
There is a high ratio of staff to students at Harrow School Short Courses. While onsite our typical ratio of staff to students is 1:15 for senior students (age 12-17) and 1:10 for junior students (age 9-11) Offsite excursions have a supervision ratio of 1:10 for senior students and 1:7 for junior students. Course Director, Academic Principal, English Teachers, House Parents, Pastoral Manager. Activities Manager, Activities Leaders, Activities Staff.

Our staff come from a variety of different backgrounds. What they have in common is an enthusiasm and aptitude for working with children, a proactive attitude to their work and lots of energy! Although we demand a lot of our staff, we provide a positive and enjoyable working environment and many of our staff have been coming back to work with us for several years.

Anyone wishing to work for Harrow School Short Courses must be over 18 at the time they commence employment. There are no other specific requirements or qualifications that we demand of our Activities Staff, but all our teachers must hold, as a minimum, a recognised qualification to teach English as a Foreign Language (EFL).

Yes all staff undergo strict DBS and reference checks prior to commencing employment.

We hold staff training days and there are opportunities for professional development. Many staff members return each year.

Diversity and inclusion is very important to Harrow School Short Courses and all students and staff are expected to behave with respect to others.

Our 8 course rules are:

1. Go to all meals, classes, activities and excursions on your course on time.
2. Keep your room tidy and make your bed.
3. Be careful with school buildings and equipment. Your parents will have to pay for damage.
4. No alcohol, drugs or smoking/vaping.
5. You cannot go into other boarding houses without permission from the Centre Director.
6. Be nice to everyone – no bullying.
7. Be in your room at the time your House Parent tells you.
8. Turn mobile phones off during lessons and activities.

Harrow School has complimentary student Wi-Fi available for students to use on personal mobile phones and has a filter system to safeguard students from accessing inappropriate internet sites. We advise students to download the Harrow School Short Courses official app when they arrive through which key information about their courses will be sent to them throughout their time at Harrow School eg details about activities and excursions. However, students do not have to have a mobile phone to attend our courses.

Mobile phones must be switched off during lessons and activities.
