At 454 years old, Harrow School is well-known as one of the most prestigious boarding schools in the world. Situated in the idyllic setting of Harrow-on-the-Hill, the School is set in over 300 acres of beautiful grounds with views over London. For over 30 years, Harrow School Short Courses has welcomed boys and girls aged nine to 17 from more than 45 countries on residential courses over the summer to improve their English whilst immersing themselves in the full British boarding school experience. Students on our summer courses also take part in some of the best activities and excursions in the UK, often making friends and memories for life. Our professional team works around the clock to care for our students, ensuring Harrow becomes a home away from home for the time that they are with us. Our fees are fully inclusive, with no hidden costs from the point of arrival until the point of departure. The Harrow staff are kind, helpful and caring. I want to thank them for looking after me and my friends all the time so we can be safe and happy. The food is tasty and delicious. I also want to thank the dining hall staff that make the food every day with their hard work and making us happy with the joy of taste! Although I won't be in The Knoll next year my boarding house is great. The rooms are tidy and not dusty and even the shower is clean. In my room and the shower room I was surprised to see some updates. Over the past few years I have made lots and lots of friends here at Harrow. I always have company and people to talk with. My favourite thing is meeting new people from different countries and cultures. Thank you so much for this awesome opportunity and experience at HSSC. I have made many unforgettable memories. Thank you again for this awesome.

We have sent lots of students to various camps throughout the UK. Among the many summer schools available, Harrow School Short Courses is not one of the best, but the very best summer school. The staff are highly experienced and committed, the program is meticulously planned and implemented, and the excursions and activities are exceptionally well-coordinated, including visits to the West End musical shows and Harry Potter Studio tour. Each student is provided with excellent care and attention. Feedback from our students is consistently positive every year.

Safety & Supervision

Harrow School offers medical care in the form of on-site nurses and trained first aiders. We also have comprehensive health and safety procedures in place across the School.

Breakfast, lunch and supper are all taken in the Shepherd Churchill Dining Hall, where Harrow School's own in-house catering team cooks everything on site: two main meat courses, a vegetarian option, soup, a salad bar, fresh fruit and pudding at each service. The menu travels widely, from katsu chicken curry and Asian salmon with julienne vegetables to homemade meatballs with linguine, beer-battered haddock and a traditional Sunday-style roast with all the trimmings, and southern fried chicken remains the perennial favourite. Water is served with meals, refreshments and snacks are part of the fee, and students can also buy extras at the Hill Cafe. On excursion days a packed lunch goes with the group, and occasionally the course pays for a meal in a cafe or restaurant. Special dietary requirements carry no additional cost and simply need to be declared at the time of application.

Screen time policy
Harrow School has complimentary student Wi-Fi available for students to use on personal mobile phones and has a filter system to safeguard students from accessing inappropriate internet sites. We advise students to download the Harrow School Short Courses official app when they arrive through which key information about their courses will be sent to them throughout their time at Harrow School eg details about activities and excursions. However, students do not have to have a mobile phone to attend our courses. Mobile phones must be switched off during lessons and activities.

Students stay at one of Harrow School's 12 boarding houses. There is one boarding house for Senior Girls, one boarding house for Senior Boys and one boarding house for Junior Boys and Girls divided by floor by gender. There is a House Parent that looks after students in each Boarding House and we also have a Pastoral Manager who is dedicated to make sure that students feel happy during their stay. We also have on-site nurses and trained first-aiders. Meals are included and are served in the School's dining room where hot food, salads and desserts are served. On excursions, students either eat at a cafe or restaurant, or are given a packed lunch. We provide a free laundry service for students.

By car
By car or taxi to The Vaughan Library
Registration takes place at The Vaughan Library, High Street, Harrow on the Hill, London HA1 3HT, and taxis can pull up directly outside. Drivers will find only limited paid short-stay parking on the High Street; the alternative is the School car park on Garlands Lane, HA1 3GF, followed by an eight-minute walk uphill to the Library. Train station
IncludedLondon St Pancras International (Eurostar only)
Pickup service · Students travelling by Eurostar are met at St Pancras International by course staff and driven on to Harrow on the Hill, with the transfer included in the fee when it falls within the set time frames. As with flights, a valid ticket confirming the arrival date and time plus the completed travel form are needed in advance, and only Eurostar arrivals are covered at this station. Departing students are taken to St Pancras no more than one hour before their train leaves, and staff stay with them until they are through the gates.

The nearest Underground and mainline station is Harrow-on-the-Hill, served by the Metropolitan and Chiltern lines, and it is roughly a ten-minute walk uphill from the station exit to the School. Families arriving independently should make their way to The Vaughan Library, High Street, Harrow on the Hill, London HA1 3HT, which is the registration point on arrival day.

Local buses to Harrow School
Two local routes stop at Harrow School itself about every 15 to 20 minutes: the 258 between Watford Junction and South Harrow, and the H17 between Harrow Bus Station and Wembley Central. Anyone coming from Heathrow can take the SL9 bus to Harrow Bus Station and connect from there before walking up to The Vaughan Library to register.
