Enriching Excursions and Activities: The Claremont Summer School program includes a variety of excursions and activities that balance education with fun and adventure: - London: A boat trip and ride on the London Eye, followed by a sightseeing walk to Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament, and Buckingham Palace. - Theme Parks - Canterbury: A visit to the historic Cathedral and town center. - Bodiam Castle: A countryside walk and swimming near this stunning medieval castle. - Hastings: Explore the aquarium and Smuggler’s Adventure. - Beach and BBQ: Enjoy a relaxing afternoon at the beach capped off with a BBQ. - Battle Abbey: Discover the historic town and walk the grounds of the 1066 Battle of Hastings.

Claremont's International Summer School is built around the school's Active English approach, so mornings put students into real situations where they have to use the language to solve practical challenges, mainly through film making and performing arts, with progress measured in listening, speaking, problem-solving, leadership and teamwork rather than grammar drills. Afternoons switch to specialist pathways that students choose themselves from options such as Film Making, Drama, Martial Arts, Multi-sports, Music and Forest School, each one another chance to practise specific vocabulary while genuinely enjoying the activity. Seven excursions are woven through the stay, taking the group from London and Thorpe Park to Canterbury, Hastings, Battle and Bodiam Castle, and evenings back at the boarding house bring quiz nights, karaoke, talent shows, team-building games, optional English tutor sessions and movie nights. Running through all of it is a life-skills thread aimed at confidence, teamwork, public speaking and independence, the things that matter later at university and at work. Before arrival, families e-meet the Director of Summer School to talk through the schedule and the choices, and the course ends with a graduation party where the friendships made are properly celebrated.

Safeguarding and the health and well-being of our students is the top priority across Claremont School. We are led by the Head of Safeguarding and Designated Safeguarding Lead, who oversees all the training of Summer School staff to ensure that everyone is aware of their role and responsibility in keeping students safe. A qualified Registered Nurse is available to provide medical care and dispense medicines. Parents/ guardians must notify us of any pre-existing conditions and prescription drug needs before starting the course. Many of the staff are first aid trained so they are able to deal with small incidents which may occur during activities and excursions. An emergency 24/7 contact number is provided to every student and parent/guardian.
Meals
Meals are one of the quiet pleasures of the day here: everything is cooked fresh on campus by Claremont's own catering team and students sit down to eat together, which turns mealtimes into another easy chance to chat in English with new friends from around the world. The kitchen works to each child's needs, so any dietary requirement or restriction you note on the Registration Form is passed straight to the catering team before arrival. Some meals move outdoors with the programme, including the barbecue that closes the beach afternoon in Hastings.
Screen time policy
At Claremont, students are asked to give in their phones for safekeeping on arrival and can use them for 1-2 hours a day to contact their family and friends.

At Claremont Summer School, we’re all about creating a home-away-from-home for our students. Our boarding facilities are designed with comfort and community in mind. Bedrooms are cozy and well-furnished, accommodating up to four students per room, and many even come with en-suite bathrooms—perfect for a bit of added privacy. The boarding houses also have plenty of social spaces and lovely gardens, ideal for relaxing or making new friends. Our residential team is on hand 24/7 to make sure everyone feels happy and cared for. With over half of our staff living on-site, there’s always a friendly face nearby. Our dedicated Matron is like a superhero in disguise—handing out medicine, nursing the unwell back to health, and even accompanying students to appointments when needed. The team works closely with our school nurse, who pops in weekly to keep everyone in tip-top shape. Claremont’s boarding houses were recently rated 'Outstanding' by UK inspectors, and we’re proud to provide top-notch care. The Director of Summer School oversees the whole operation, making sure students are safe, happy, and thriving while keeping parents in the loop. With a mix of fun activities and downtime, we ensure students strike the perfect balance between learning, relaxing, and enjoying their summer to the fullest.
