We have a Camp Director and a Camp Co-ordinator who will be overseeing all activities during the camp programme. Each house will have a House Leader who acts in a pastoral capacity. All children will be assigned a Team Leader who will be with them at all times and throughout all activities to ensure students have a leader they can form a strong relationship with.
Camp staff are required to have experience in the role they are allocated to ensure all of their responsibilities are within their capabilities. House Leaders are required to have experience of working with children in both a leadership and pastoral role. The majority of staff are recruited from within Christ College or are known to the school employees. All staff are required to undergo DBS checks. Staff leading adventurous training activities have to possess the appropriate UK qualifications for those activities.
Yes, we require a completed DBS check for all of our Camp Leaders.
A condition of employment for all staff is to take part in staff training prior to the start of camp. The staff training includes safeguarding, health and safety, first aid and operational procedures and processes for all staff members.
Diversity and inclusion is considered as part of the camp planning process.
Children are required to hand over their phones on arrival and they will have access to them for a short period each day. We encourage them to message or phone home during this window, but once phones are collected in they will not have access again until the next day. If for medical reasons a student requires their phone to be on them at all times, we will of course accommodate this.
