Camp Chippewa for Boys has run its wilderness summers on an isthmus between Cass Lake and Buck Lake in Minnesota's Chippewa National Forest since 1935, when it was founded by Otto "Cap" Endres and Helen "Mom" Endres. The camp is led by a resident director team with a doctor or nurse living on site all summer, and counsellors complete an eight-day training period before campers arrive, supported by weekly staff meetings and outside child-development specialists. Many staff are former campers, and around 75% of campers return for another summer.
