Actividades

Alpengirl Camp offers a wide range of outdoor activities designed to be both challenging and accessible for girls of all skill levels. These activities are carefully structured to promote personal growth, teamwork, and a deep connection with nature. Each itinerary includes a blend of activities that showcase the best of the surrounding region:
•Backpacking and Hiking:
Girls embark on multi-day backpacking trips through scenic wilderness areas. These treks encourage physical fitness, self-reliance, and problem-solving skills, offering opportunities for personal reflection and growth.
•Rock Climbing:
Some camps provide rock climbing experiences on natural rock faces. Campers learn climbing techniques, safety practices, and gain a sense of accomplishment as they overcome challenges. This activity combines physical strength with mental focus.
All rock climbing activities are facilitated by contracted professional outfitters.
•Whitewater Rafting:
A thrilling part of the Alpengirl experience, whitewater rafting allows girls to navigate rapids, master water safety, and develop teamwork on the water. This dynamic activity fosters trust, communication, and confidence.
All whitewater rafting activities are facilitated by contracted professional outfitters.
•Horseback Riding:
Campers explore scenic trails on horseback, learning foundational riding skills and developing confidence. Activities emphasize building strong bonds with horses and understanding their care, including grooming and saddling.
All horseback riding activities are facilitated by contracted professional outfitters.
•Backcountry Horse Packing and Llama Packing:
These immersive wilderness experiences take campers deep into remote areas, where they travel by horseback or on foot, with gear carried by pack animals. Campers build leadership skills as they manage logistics, care for animals, and navigate terrain.
All animal packing activities are facilitated by contracted professional outfitters.
•Canoeing, Kayaking, and Stand-Up Paddle-boarding:
In regions with lakes or rivers, campers paddle on the water while learning techniques for these activities. These experiences promote confidence, teamwork, and a connection to aquatic environments.
•Outdoor Survival Skills:
Campers are taught practical skills such as fire-making, shelter-building, navigation, cooking over an open fire, and wilderness first aid. These skills foster independence and competence in the outdoors. Campers can earn “skill beads” for mastering these abilities.
•Environmental Education:
Campers learn about local ecosystems, wildlife, and sustainable practices through activities like nature walks, flora/fauna identification, and Leave No Trace discussions. This promotes eco-conscious leadership and mindful decision-making.
•Sea Kayaking:
Coastal locations offer sea kayaking excursions where campers paddle along shorelines, explore hidden coves, and learn about coastal ecosystems. This serene activity enhances awareness of tidal patterns, navigation, and wildlife observation.
All sea kayaking activities are facilitated by contracted professional outfitters.
Alpengirl Camp ensures that every camper experiences adventure, builds new skills, and forms lifelong memories in a supportive and inspiring environment.
Cronograma
A Typical Day at Alpengirl Camp
A typical day at Alpengirl Camp is packed with outdoor adventures, skill-building activities, and moments for reflection, all within a supportive and fun environment. The schedule strikes a balance between physical challenges, personal growth opportunities, and time to relax and connect with other campers.
7:00 AM – Wake-Up and Morning Alpenyoga
The day starts early as campers rise with the sun, ready for the adventures ahead. The Leader of the Day helps guides get everyone up and moving. The group gathers for a short Alpenyoga session to stretch, loosen up, and set a positive tone for the day.
8:00 AM – Breakfast
A nutritious and hearty breakfast fuels the day’s activities. Meals are often prepared together as a group, teaching campers outdoor cooking skills. Breakfast favorites include Strawberry-Stuffed French Toast, Alpengirl Breakfast Burritos, and Spring Lover’s Fruit Parfait.
9:00 AM – Adventure Time!
The day’s main adventure varies by itinerary and may include:

Lunch is served in the field, on the trail, or at the campsite. Campers pack their own trail meals, such as sandwiches, wraps, or snacks like energy bars, dried fruits, and nuts, enjoying a well-deserved break.
4:00 PM – Camp Time
After an active day, campers have free time to relax and engage in quiet activities like journaling, sketching, or reading. Group games or bonding activities are also an option. If near water, campers might swim or lounge by the shore.
This is also an opportunity for campers to work on “skill beads,” mastering outdoor skills such as shelter building, campfire starting, or wilderness first aid.
5:30 PM – Dinner Preparation
Campers come together to prepare dinner using camp stoves or fire pits. Cooking as a group is an essential part of the experience, fostering teamwork. Dinner options include Garden Pesto Pizza, Fried Rice Quinoa, and Creamy Broccoli and Garlic Pasta.
6:30 PM – Dinner
Dinner is a time to gather around, share highlights from the day, and encourage each other. The meal is followed by laughter and camaraderie.
7:30 PM – Evening Relaxation
Evenings include storytelling, group reflection, and fun activities like the AlpenOlympic Talent Show. The day ends with “Leader of the Day Appreciation,” and campers receive kudos for their contributions.
9:15 PM – 9:15 Activity
A peaceful group activity marks the transition from day to night, allowing campers to wind down and appreciate the beauty of their surroundings.
9:30 PM – Bedtime Prep
Campers clean their spaces, brush their teeth, and prepare their tents. Special attention is given to storing any “smellies” in bear-safe spaces. Campers can read or journal before lights out.
10:00 PM – Lights Out
After a day of adventure and learning, campers fall asleep, eager for the next day’s challenges and discoveries.
The structured yet flexible daily schedule at Alpengirl Camp encourages growth, pushes campers outside their comfort zones, and provides tools to build confidence and resilience both in the wilderness and in everyday life.
Alojamiento y estancia instalaciones
All campers will be staying in 4-person tents for the duration of the camp program, in a mix of front-country and back-country settings.Front country: Alpengirl Camp stays in public “front country” campgrounds where we have pre-assigned campsites with neighbors and campground hosts nearby, running potable water, and private outhouses or flushing toilets.Back country: All Alpengirl itineraries have a backcountry component, where campers spend several nights in wilderness “backcountry” areas where we will purify our water before drinking and learn how to practice basic Leave No Trace camping skills, such as how to select a campsite, how to go to the bathroom, and how to keep clean outdoors.

TUITION AND TERMS OF PAYMENT: Your $700 form of payment is due with your registration. Upon enrollment you will be charged the $700 non-refundable deposit. The balance of tuition & fees is due in two installments: February 1st and April 1st. We will automatically bill that same payment method on February 1st and April 1st. We will send out a reminder in advance in case you would like to change your payment method. We accept credit/debit cards, eChecks, or checks for payment. We will add a 2.9% non-refundable processing fee for credit cards used for payment. Registrations after April 1 must be paid in full within 7 days of online registration and are fully non-refundable. Late payments or late or incomplete forms will result in forfeiture of your space without refund. The tuition includes all expenses once you have arrived at the specified arrival/departure site for your session. NOTE: parent/s are required to pay for unaccompanied minor tickets (if applicable) for flights to/from the program, as well as any air carrier baggage fees. CANCELLATION AND REFUND: If you cancel before April 1st, we will refund any payments you have made, less the non-refundable $700 deposit and credit/debit card processing fees. If you cancel after April 1st, 100% of your payments made are non-refundable. In order to cancel, you must provide Alpengirl with notice, in writing, via e-mail. The above charge for cancellation is intended as liquidated damages and not as a penalty. Alpengirl uses camper payments to prepare for programs, pay its guides, and pay for non-refundable leased vans, outfitter deposits, equipment and campground reservations, and handle a myriad of other costs associated with its budget and operations. Many expenses are negotiated based on a total summer (or group) number, rather than on a per person basis and it is difficult to ascertain the amount of actual loss or damages that would result if a camper or parent cancels at a given point in time. As a result, the above charges reflect a reasonable estimate of the actual costs Alpengirl will incur in the event of camper cancellation before camp start. Independent trip insurance is recommended for all camper families to protect their investment.
Alpengirl Camp is proud to hire experienced Alpenguides for its programming:- Qualified and Trained Staff: All Alpenguides are highly trained in outdoor education, wilderness first aid, CPR, and emergency response procedures. Staff members undergo extensive training in group dynamics, youth development, and risk management. – Low Counselor-to-Camper Ratio: Alpengirl Camp maintains a low counselor-to-camper ratio, typically 1:5 or 1:6, ensuring that every camper receives individual attention, supervision, and support.
All Alpenguides hold a minimum of Wilderness First Aid certifications, with many also holding Wilderness First Responder certifications and Lifeguarding. These certifications ensure that counselors are equipped to handle medical emergencies in the backcountry, where immediate access to medical care may not be available.
Yes, all staff must pass a background check prior to working at Alpengirl Camp.
All Alpenguides attend a 9-day intensive staff training prior to the start of camp, where they are trained on all Alpengirl programming, risk and safety protocols and emergency procedures, interpersonal communication and group management, and more.

Protocolos de seguridad
Alpengirl Camp’s safety protocols have been developed in collaboration with Cornerstone Safety Group. These extensive measures are designed to prioritize camper safety in all aspects of the program. Families are encouraged to reach out with specific concerns to learn more about these protocols and risk management strategies.
Alpengirl Camp is a tech-free camp — campers are permitted to arrive at camp with cell phones for travel purposes, but all technology is collected at the start of camp and returned on departure day.
My daughter was hesitant to step out of her shell as we left her with her camp group at the airport. On the day I picked her up a week later, she was glowing! She ran up to introduce me to her new friends and overflowed with stories from their week in the mountains. I watched my daughter (who was shy and nervous) tripping over her words as she spurted out stories of the horseback rides, white water rafting, dance parties, group challenges and so many memories with new friends. It gave her the sense that there are more girls out there like her that enjoy the outdoors and she gained confidence in the ability to make new friends in a short week through amazing experiences.
My 11-year old daughter had an amazing week on Alpengirl’s WA Lil B’s trip. She really enjoyed the back country hiking and camping experience and although she went with a friend she made other friends, too. It was a great opportunity to further build her confidence and independence. She is already thinking about which Alpengirl trip she’s going to go on next summer! Thank you!
My daughter went on the Montana Lil’s trip (8 days) last summer, she had a great time, enjoyed bonding with the other girls and leaders, really loved her leaders! Lots of fun games and skill building activities, along with all of the cool outdoor adventures. Her favorite day was the hike up to the mountain lake. This was her longest time away from us and she really thrived on the trip! 5/5 would recommend to a friend with a teenage daughter!
Our experience with AlpenGirl was wonderful. My daughter found the company through a google search and Alpengirl gave us references to make us feel more comfortable. The families we reached out to gave us positive and honest reviews of their experiences. It was a scary experience to send our 12 year old from New Jersey to Seattle but it was worth all the fears. She had a wonderful experience exploring the beautiful nature in Olympic National Park. She was able to face her fears and conquer challenges she would have never experienced. Our daughter developed a sense of confidence, took reasonable risks and developed a new sense of responsibility. It was an experience we both will never forget. Thank you for taking care of her and allowing her this experience.
This is an AMAZING camp for teen girls!
I started looking for outdoor camps for girls when my daughter was going through the typical tween experience of adjusting to middle school life. We stumbled upon Alpengirl online, and after reading testimonials and speaking to the camp director, we took a step outside our comfort zone as parents and signed our daughter up. That first year, we had to provide non-family references for our daughter, plus a medical referral for her so they could ensure her recently diagnosed ADHD was being managed and her doctor thought she would do well at the camp. We also did another phone interview with the camp director as a family before they accepted her as a camper.
Her first adventure was a backpacking trip with sea-kayaking, white water rafting, rock climbing and horse back riding. (The rock climbing and horse back riding got cancelled due to wild fires near the area causing too much smoke, but they got an extra half day of kayaking and rafting.) She came home from camp exhausted, happier, and a little more confident in herself.
When registration opened up for the next year, our family was facing a possible military move or retirement move. We had NO idea where we’d be living, but we all wanted her to do another adventure, so we signed her up! We did end up moving over the summer, but since the camps all start at an airport, it wasn’t any more complicated to get her there.
Her 2nd adventure was a white water rafting trip with day-hiking, horse back riding and kayaking. They got to camp on sandy beaches by the river, which my daughter loved. She came home exhausted, full of stories, and couldn’t wait to pick out the next camp. (She missed the first 2 days of her new school, but had good stories to tell when she started.)
Her 3rd adventure was the one she’s been dying to go to since we started looking at Alpengirl – the Yellowstone Horse adventure. She loved the horses, hated the mosquitos. She made two really good friends on this adventure that she texts or facetimes with daily. She came back exhausted and so happy and much more confident in herself.
Our daughter is not the most adventuresome eater, but she says most of the food is good and there’s ways to pick around the things she didn’t care for. They always got seconds if they asked, and the older girls get to help plan the menus for what they eat.
The girls also take turns helping lead the group, prepare meals, navigate, and work on other skills they can earn a bead for. They give the girls a wire necklace to collect the beads on – my daughter wears hers often, even not at camp. And the Alpengirl hoodie is in frequent rotation in the teenage wardrobe!
The adventures are thoughtfully divided into age groups, and each adventure is a small group of 12-ish girls plus the leaders. It really fosters the closeness of the campers and allows even the shyest girls to make connections and step out of their comfort zones.
We’ve already signed her up for her 4th adventure next summer, which will have rafting, kayaking, a short backpacking trip and surfing. As parents, we have loved seeing her gain confidence, try new activities and meet new people each year.
