Overview
Camp Med-o-lark is a creative, welcoming summer camp tucked into the woods of Maine, known for its strong arts programs, warm community, and relaxed, non-competitive atmosphere. It’s a place where kids and teens are encouraged to be themselves, explore their interests deeply, and build meaningful friendships that often last well beyond the summer.
At Med-o-lark, the arts are central to daily life. Campers can choose from a wide range of offerings in music, theater, dance, visual arts, and creative writing, with especially strong programs in music and performing arts. Whether a camper is picking up an instrument for the first time, writing their own songs, designing sets, or performing on stage, the emphasis is always on creativity, expression, and joy rather than pressure or competition. Performances and showcases are celebratory, supportive experiences that highlight growth and effort.
Beyond the arts, Med-o-lark offers a full traditional camp experience. Campers swim, canoe, play sports and games, hike, spend time outdoors, and enjoy classic camp traditions. The natural setting creates space to unplug, breathe, and feel at home in the outdoors, while still balancing structured activities with free time and choice.
What truly sets Camp Med-o-lark apart is its culture. The camp is built around core values of friendship and kindness as a way of life; the confidence to think for yourself and act independently; the freedom to be and to become; and consideration for oneself, for others, for the environment, and for the community. Campers are supported in taking healthy risks, trying new things, and finding their voice in a community that celebrates individuality and mutual respect.
The staff at Med-o-lark are caring, engaged, and deeply invested in the camper experience. Many are artists, educators, and returning counselors who understand the importance of mentorship, patience, and genuine connection. Cabins are small, fostering close bonds and a strong sense of belonging, and counselors work closely with campers to help them feel safe, supported, and confident.
Med-o-lark is a wonderful fit for kids who are creative, curious, thoughtful, or simply looking for a place where they can feel comfortable being themselves. It’s a camp where friendships form naturally, creativity thrives, and campers leave with not just new skills, but a stronger sense of who they are and who they can become.

All campers are expected to contribute to a safe, respectful, and inclusive community by treating others with kindness, following camp rules and safety guidelines, respecting staff instructions, and caring for camp facilities and belongings.
The camp follows American Camp Association (ACA) and State of Maine standards for supervision, emergency preparedness, and safety practices.
Campers are supervised by trained staff throughout the day, including structured routines from morning wake-up to lights-out, with practices such as the “Rule of Three” to ensure campers aren’t alone with staff out of sight of others.
Health and medical care is managed by qualified professionals in a staffed Health Center, with secure medication protocols and clear procedures for illnesses or injuries.
Emergency preparedness includes written plans for severe weather, fire, evacuation, and other critical situations; staff are trained and drilled on response procedures prior to camp and throughout the season.
